She does the same amount of acting in movies as she does in her interviews. If I have to choose between Alia and Deepika I will choose Alia, she is that bad.

Is this an insult or compliment to Alia I am confused

Alia made me realize that DP was fine for period dramas. But both can't hold a candle against vintage Aish in her prime with that majestic and surreal presence.

I wish SLB had made Padmaavat and Bajirao Mastani with Aish as planned

But according to this forum Aishwarya is one of the worst actors we have and Alia is better than her lol...so how can you say that Ash is better than Alia? I dont think Ash could do a Raazi or Dear Zindagi.

I don't think Alia can do a Devdas or HDDCS or Guru ir Raincoat either..Lol. I'm not talking about acting skills anyway, that sublime ethereal beauty factor is missing in case of both Alia and Deepu which is required for period dramas and Aish used to dance like a dream too.

DP has worked hard to create herself as a brand and that is why she's the big name she is today. Her acting and dancing, while much improved than previously, still leaves a lot of room for improvement. But what has made DP successful is that she's been able to balance these deficits with her looks, styling, her persona (how she presents herself in media/interviews), photoshoots etc. She's the closest thing right now to being the total package

If there was a better competitor, then I don't think DP would be heralded as such a "great". But the best competition is PC who is no longer in BW. KR is around who can act her socks off but lacks in other departments. Next is Alia, who might be a better actress but cannot honestly be called a total package (as evidenced by Kalank and that new SOTY song)

People say this about Deepiak too though......people will still tell you she cant dance lik Deewani Mastani and Mohe Rang Mujhe Lal....and same people will also state that she was horrible in the Lovely song? So how is she any better than alia?

I am one of those people actually. In fact, you could probably find my old posts criticizing her when those songs came out lol.

Songs like Deewani Mastani and Mohe Rang Do Laal always showed something was off to me, either her dancing or her articulating but the songs were ultimately filmed in such a way to hide them. Its only when you compare them to Maar Dala and other similar songs that it becomes clear how much her songs lacked. Same with Lovely - she can't best a Katrina even though she tried.

Frankly DP only gets by because she can at least do such varied genres and make the songs look halfway decent. Alia....even struggles to maintain this

I agree! Deepika is also extremely graceless and clunky with her two left feet. So heavy-footed....

Heck even in that Nagada Sang Dhol song, she was looking and dancing like a possessed giraffe!
