As for KJo, yes it must be business wise that he thinks she is good for his movies, but I think it also satisfies his kingmaker desires. Like if somebody wanted they could make a star out of someone moderately talented with all the right moves and he is doing that with Alia. Alia is forever indebted to him and he loves that. Makes him all that much powerful too. The best actress currently and he has power over her. Ego boost. It may be a fatherly feeling also, who knows. But it isn't just business. There's something else happening here. This has never happened before as far as I know.

I think people mean movies are tailor made for her as in curated for her where she can shine and showcase her talent, show her range.

Untrue. Deepika hate is consistent. s**t shaming her at every given chance is consistent, mocking her for no reason is consistent etc.

Success drives love and hate. Once you are irrelevant, most people are indifferent 😛

Tailor-made : Regardless whether she suits them or not, roles come her way on a platter. Roles written keeping her in mind. Karan hijacking projects with dharma money. Sidelining others. Therefore tailor made author backed roles with maximum effect which most actresses don't really have.

Miscast : Getting roles that doesnt suit her like Kalank. Before Kalank I dont remember anyone saying she was miscasted in anything. Karan is trying to project her as this ethereal beauty but it's not shaping up. There's tailormade phenomenon here too, the movie is now about Roop's big mistake and probably have the maximum screentime.

@Bold : no I don't think tailor made means getting roles on a platter regardless of whether she suits or not.. I think tailor made means writing a role keeping her in mind.. So a role can't be tailor made and not suitable for the person at the same time.
@red : Alia was called a miscast in almost all her movies(mainly SOTY, Kapoor and Sons, 2 states, Raazi etc). And the funniest is she was called too immature looking to be casted as sehmat when the original sehmat was a 19yr old girl and makers many times said they wanted someone petite and innocent looking whom no one wd suspect as a spy.
About Kalank, who said Alias Roop is supposed to be an ethereal beauty.. No where in teaser or tailor its mentioned so..Roop can be an average looking girl too.. From the trailer the chances of it is more, because ARK was not interested in her as long as Satya was there.. And people reacts as if everyone who lived in prepartition India were all beauty Queens..It becomes a concern onky when you make a movie on an ethereal beauty for whom even wars happened and you cast a not so gorgeous face for the role(as in Padmavat). As long as Roop is not portrayed as a beauty queen it's okay to cast Alia.. And some people are like Alia looks too immature to be Roop.. But come on in past in india girls were married off at an age of 14-15.. In the novel Roop is a 16yr old girl.. So maximum age of Roops character in the movie will be 18..So Alia fits the bill to the T.

Alia and KJo are both well aware of her weaknesses and are very careful to not highlight that on the big screen.

Why she is not suitable for period films.. Are you saying that all the women lived in India were all beauty queen's with attractive facial features and all?why can't be an average looking girl be casted in a period movie as long as they don't claim her to be an ethereal beauty of that time.

I am not sure about her being miscast in kalank b.c have not seen the film. but alia did say in an interview that she called up the director and said she would be upset about not being cast. and then she went on to say that the character was tweaked a bit to fit her.
if she fits it or not im not sure. but the fact that she does have people doing that for her...is what other actresses dont get. so overall she is priveleged and ppl just rant against that. why tweak a character, why not give the role to someone who fit it originally? give someone else the opportunity? the fact that she just calls up the director and says ill be upset..
so this role in kalank is most definitely tailor made..it is tailor made so that she is able to play it to her potential.
the director could have wanted her originally who knows.
but if you need to make alterations to a character than something is wrong with the actor not the character.

I went through all the replies I got on this topic and I am not satisfied with the answers I got.. This is the only answer which makes some sense to me.
