Honestly I think nowdays most parents in Desi communities do not react badly to love marriage. They just want the guy to be good . Such a lot of new gen people can't relate to the film,I myself feel if my dad was this patriarchal I wouldn't have such patience for him. I'd HV said ok dad you do u me leaving. Hope u grow progressive one day.
And families that r still set in old ways n react badly to love marriage to the point of Amrish Puri did,those families don't change like Amrish did in ddlj. That happens in films but real life me many couples get separated by family,even killed. They must regret not eloping n giving their family a chance.
The middle type of those who change so drastically in a span of few days rarely exist
