India cricket team, Pakistan cricket team, India vs Pakistan, Asia Cup, Asia Cup 2025, india vs pakistan stats, india vs pakistan records, india vs pakistan asia cup record, india vs pakistan t20 record, india vs pakistan cricket record, india vs pakistan most runs, india vs pakistan most wickets

Both India and Pakistan have started their respective campaigns with emphatic victories. While India demolished a hapless UAE by 9 wickets, Pakistan outclassed Oman. The two rivals now meet each other on Sunday which will be their fourth meeting in the competition’s history (T20s). Here’s a look at their head-to-head stats--

The first ever Asia Cup in T20 format was held in 2016. Since then, India and Pakistan have clashed thrice in the event with all meetings in Dubai. India have won twice - once in 2016 (by five wickets) and then in 2022 (by five wickets). Pakistan then won the Super 4 clash in 2022 (by five wickets).

Not the first time a terrorist attack has surrounded an India-Pakistan match

India vs Pakistan Live Score, Asia Cup 2025, IND vs PAK: Six years ago, India and Pakistan faced each other in the 2019 World Cup match in Manchester, but the lead-up was anything but smooth. On 14 February, the Pulwama attacks had ignited a wave of anger among the public, and similar to now, calls for India to boycott the match against Pakistan grew louder. That was a World Cup, mind you, which was played just four months removed from the attacks. Even the legendary Sunil Gavaskar lost it on live TV. "Go ahead, Boycott. But then, how will we win the World Cup?" he said. The sentiments mirror those of 2019, only this time it's a lot more intense, given the barbaric nature of the attack and 'war' that resulted from it in and around April-May.

If you are a cricket fan, few fixtures deliver more thrills than the one slated for 14 September. The arch-rivals, India and Pakistan, square off in an epic clash to skill and execution on the night.

Asia Cup 2025, IND vs PAK: BCCI's stance on India vs Pakistan at the Asia Cup

Asia Cup 2025, IND vs PAK: Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, tried to end the debate surrounding the India-Pakistan match and explain why the team decided to participate in the contest after all. The Sports Ministry's verdict is clear and to the point – India will not play any bilateral series against Pakistan, but when it comes to multi-nation tournaments, the team is tied by various other obligations. If India were to withdraw, it could lead to some serious implications, including putting in jeopardy India's participation at the Olympics and the efforts to host the Commonwealth Games in the future.

Read on to see what Saikia had to say--

‘We cannot boycott…’: BCCI refuses to budge from its stance; India have no choice but to play Pakistan in Asia Cup 2025

When did Pakistan last beat India?

Pakistan's last victory over India came in the previous iteration of the Asia Cup T20, just over 3 years ago. Pakistan beat India in their Asia Cup Super Four clash in 2022. Mohammad Nawaz slammed a quickfire 42, took a wicket and 3 catches as Virat Kohli's knock of 60 went in vain.

Battle for big Asia Cup T20 record

Star India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is very close to a massive Asia Cup record. If he scores 17 runs today, he can become the first player to score 100+ runs and take 10+ wickets in the history of the Asia Cup T20 format. But Pandya isn't the only one who'll be vying for that feat. Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz is also very close to achieving it.

Hardik Pandya: 83 runs, 11 wickets

Mohammad Nawaz: 98 runs, 9 wickets

Who will achieve the record first?

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar On Asia Cup Row

Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar wants politics and sports to be kept separate. He said: "Games should be left to us. Politics should not enter the games. But unfortunately, that is not the case now. I will leave the decision to the young people of our country. If they want to play, nobody should stop them. Games unite people from all over the world...Players are not politicians, they are free...We should explore every avenue in which we can bring more peace to society."
