I know this Tamasha issue keeps coming up. And I remember posting this multiple times before 😆 There is no denying that Ranbir was overpaid at that point but I highly doubt he got 38 crores while DP got 3 or 4 😆 Also do people understand that Ranbir signed Tamasha immediately after YJHD? And Sanju has been in the works since 2014. At that point, Ranbir was coming off Barfi and YJHD and there was this perception that he is a huge star. Of course he eventually ended up delivering multiple flops and that perception took a hit so I highly doubt he would be offered the same money now. But do people realize that the producers couldn't have been psychic and anticipated the disasters? When he signed the film, he was delivering hits so the industry got carried away (like they always do) and he was paid more. It has very little to do with nepotism and everything to do with perception. Of course you can call it ridiculous (I think so too cos anything above 10 crores to any of these ppl is ridiculous IMO) but it's ridiculous to question something based on events which happened much later 😆

I have said this before. More than actresses being underpaid, it's the actors who are being overpaid IMO. And the writers get paid peanuts in comparison. If only Bollywood focused on paying their writers (and others involved behind the scenes) well instead of spending all the money on big stars and PR, we would have better films being made every year. There are cases where the contribution of the music album is as much as the lead pair if not more. Did Pritam get paid as much as RK DP for YJHD? Cos let's face it. Half the hype for that film was cos of the chartbuster music. Yet no one really talks about the remuneration of a Pritam or an ARR or an Abhijat Joshi or a Juhi in comparison to these actors. Why do these actors deserve more than 10 crores is beyond me. Not to sound petty but everyone in every profession works hard. I understand film industry works on demand and supply so pay anywhere between 10 lakhs to 10 crores to these actors and pay the rest of the money to the other hard working technicians. If the actor is involved in production of the film, they will obviously make more money which is alright. But in general please stop wasting so much money on all these actors. Dont pay female actors more. Please pay the male actors less 😆

And why would a writer get the equal amount ? In that case he can write a novel and release it in the market..😆 this is the movie industry we r talking abt where ACTING is the soul and the main lead is the king where the entire movie is on his shoulders !

Producers/directors are not dumb to pay more to males..they know whose name will bring audience to theaters😆.before going to movie people usually first check who is the hero..if he is not appealing evn if the female lead is queen elizebeth or miss world they dont care i guess ?so yeah males should get more !

I said writers should be paid well. Not as much as the superstars (or even the lead actors in general) but definitely a lot more than what they get paid now. Am sure the ratio is something on the lines of 1:10 which is definitely unfair IMO. Esp if it's someone like an Abhijat or a Himanshu who have both critical acclaim and a solid box office record.

Disagree ! Though abhijat and himanshu are the great writers but the actors are the ones who are delivering it on the screen and are bringing audience to the halls so i dont get this writers should Be paid well rants😆 but yeah if the ratio is what u said then its unfair but then again when they are agreeing to the amount they are getting it shouldnt be a problem.? Dunno !!!

I know you will disagree but star power is overrated IMO. Yes having a Salman or Shahrukh helps but at the end of the day, most blockbuster films are a combination of several factors. Why dint Race 3 make as much as BB? Because BB was the better and more entertaining film. Yes a superstar can salvage trash upto a point but there is a reason Aamir delivers ATBBs. And it's not his star power. It's simply because he does better films. Anyway forget the Khans. They get a share in the profits anyway and they have a substantial fanbase. That is not the case with most other actors. I don't see why an Abhijath should be paid ten times lesser than a Ranbir or a Ranveer. He has a better success rate than most of these actors in Bollywood 😆My point was simple. Stop paying these exorbitant sums to actors (the ones producing will anyway get a share in the profits), pay your writers and other technicians reasonably well and focus on better stories.

^ Actually the story of a film is very important for the box office too. The reason that Bollywood movies don't do as well as Hollywood in terms of revenue isn't just the lack of global reach, it's also because of the unworthy stories which can only make so many people watch the movies. If the quality of movies becomes better, it can help achieve more footfalls which will increase the BO for films too. It is a long way, sure, and very hard to measure but also the truth and why Bollywood is stagnant or even deteriorating as an industry right now.

how wonderful

No sense of economics or business and unhelpful rants about how much Ranbir makes as opposed to Deepika when even Forbes states that they make the same or similar amount of money yearly. But don't let facts ever stop you.

Star power is about opening numbers, not how much a movie makes in total. Stars are there to give the initial boost and to provide a minimum guarantee. Otherwise, even a regional movie like Sairat can make 100 crores if it has crowd-pleasing content. That doesn't mean the lead actors of Sairat deserve the kind of money top stars get.

i need to correct u ...u r flying too high

u cannot speak on facts here..please present ur argument NOT involving facts

thanks

Most of the top male actors produce their own movies and take monetary risks and pay back distributors too when things go wrong and they face losses. They take on a lot more responsibility and risk. Their pay packets also come from back end deals so they are making money only if the movie itself is.

There might be a glitch once in a while where an actor makes too much money and others lose but the market fixes that with the next movie. Nobody is just given free money.

Actresses can do the same. Make your own big budget movies (why beg for someone to give Dhoom to you?) and finance them and take on those risks and pay it back if the movie flops. They are not ready to do so but want 30 crore checks like the top actors who've been in the business for 25 years.😆

this person is ON FIRE. lol

Poll numbers have increased

A whopping 55% think that decision to pay should be based on merit and not gender.

Thanks for agreeing with my point.
