About Pakistani dramas, I watched 3-4 popular ones, they were good.. but even though they wound up in 20-25 epis, I found them a bit slow, and most of them dealt about same family issues, so was wondering why it is so highly praised

Have never watched anime as such.. Anything u can suggest with good simple story for a beginner? 😛

Hmm IDK of any latest good TV shows, HM.

Ya, my mom tells me it has become repetitive (Pak drama), and direction woh sab bhi kuch khaas nahi hai.

Anime... I'm bad at recommendations, but, do you want to watch movie or series? :)

You know indian tv is down in the dumps when bepannaah is considered a content driven show meant only for the intellectuals.
The audience is down in the dumps too.

I know right, I started watching Bepanah, because the promos seemed promising and the leads looked good.. But once I started watching it, turns out I had too many expectations..
They are trying to project it as mystery show, but the way they are solving it is as illogical as the CID cases these days.. plus we have the usual rona dhona and googly eyed couples running away in bajre ke khet

I think movie would be good for starters.. It would finish in 2-3 hours and I might get an idea if I enjoy this genre.. 😊

It's humongously unfair that for TV viewing audience of 780 million ( 78 Cr) plus , there are ONLY 30,000 metered houses for BARC ratings.
That minuscule numbers define TV content in India. It actually does not represent what most Indians want to see. Besides tastes differ across regions and strata. Most Indians are plain lazy to bother about it. Until they speak up the pathetic/regressive/nonsensical/weird content shall be continued to be forced down upon.

Mercifully news media is little less affected.

People complaining are no longer the main consumers of TV, it's moved to the interiors and what they like will be shown. Look at the demographics of the 90s watching TV which accepted shows like Shanti and Hasratein, now they all prefer online content.

I had long back stopped watching tv but what's shocking is even my mom has stopped watching any serials now . Which is huge cause of she being a huge daily soap watcher .

Yes. Not sure how many years it has been since I watched a proper melodramatic Indian show. I think last show I watched and followed properly was Jee Le Zara which was cancelled abruptly. Tried Bepanah for few days but had to give it up as Colors kept changing the timing of the show. I dont have patience to watch Udaan(?) before that.
No one in my family watches Hindi shows. If its melodrama they prefer regional shows. Nothing is really new in regional or Hindi TV. Its the same thing we have been watching since 2000s with similar shows and similar game shows/reality shows. Online is much better as you can pick and choose as per your taste.

You have to watch movies by one of the best directors of all time - Satoshi Kon's movies, I'm crazy about his movies 😃 please look them up and decide.

Paprika
Millennium Actress
Perfect Blue

...there are many other excellent movies too - I'll just write the list of my favorites :)

Mamoru Hosoda films -

Wolf Children
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Summer Wars
Beast and the Boy

Studio Ghibli films -

Grave of the Fireflies
Kiki's Delivery Service
Only Yesterday
Whisper of the Heart
My Neighbours the Yamadas
Howl's Moving Castle
Ocean Waves
Tale of Princess Kaguya
When Marnie was There

That's enough for now I guess.. hope this list doesn't scare you lol 😛

Korean, japanese, Chinese shows over some variety. You have the same old love stories but also crimes, thrillers, medical, legal, historical shows so its fun

Apni problem yeh hai ki hum agar historical show bhi banayenge toh bhi uss mein saas bahu drama daal denge..

@Bold: True.. Even ZGH I felt had hiccups.. The male lead behaved like MCP in some scenes..
But yeah, its just shorter versions of Indian serials.. some are good, but some are just the same repeated formula ones.. The romantic storylines start and end in the last 2 episodes.. That is disappointing some times.. Humare yaha toh ek do mahine just pass away in eye sex 😆

+1000 on historical shows.. There is no freaking accuracy.. Even they are stretched to no limits.. I remember watching one Jodha Akbar promo, where there was one naag kanya who poisons Akbar with her zeher.. like really 😆
