I remember reading an interview back in 90's where he said his father wasnt a successfull producer and his name would often be called out on school due to non payment of fees and also how his mom tried to increse the length of his uniform trouser from last year as it dint fit him neither did they have money for new uniforms. He hated rekha until a few years because she wont give dates for a film and his father was in huge debt and e needed to release it to recover some money. It was only a film called dulha bik gaya did well and they came out of severe financial crunch.

Even when qsqt released he used to travel in rickshaw. Reena and he bought a 2 bedroom apartment initially. His uncle nasir hussain was well off not his dad.

Govinda lived in Virar chawl. Are you sure about the Carter Road story?
