Although i dont like DP and think her whole depression drama was a PR stunt, i still like the fact that she atleast shed some light on this important topic. Given the lack of work like balance, especially in India, it is important for people to feel okay to admit that they are depressed and seek help for the same. I also believe that with the growth of social media and people striving to get more and more likes for their "#goals" life, the world has more and more hollow, unfulfilled and vapid humans beings.

I dont know but the way its highlighted it looks like its her answer to Salman.
Dont know in which contex he meant but its not right to say. He makes it sound like some people want to behave depressed for attention and as an excuse to behave a certain way towards people or work.

Its not something that people choose. There are different kind of depression every person gets affected for different reason and they mostly dont know what the actual reason is. It has a lot to do with one's personality and maybe how emotional they are.

People who are happily married and having a child can fall into depression to a degree to file divorce and not even wanting to see their child. And here people trying to explain how and why deepika is was depressed.

Whatever it might be its the right time to talk about depression and to break the stigma. So many people still dont understand the seriousness of this disease in todays time.

I feel we don't give enough importance to mental illnesses as compared to physical illnesses.
Seeing that brain is the most important organ in the body, I think more research should be done on that.

YES education is a luxury for people who are cant afford it and YES food is a luxury for African children.

What WAS your point? 😕

And when did i say you shouldn't help people? 😕

Bro the tone of all your posts implied that depression is less important because it is a "luxury" by your definition. The importance of depression is a controversial topic. The importance of education is widely accepted. So by making the link between the two subjects I want to ask you whether you think depression is really that unimportant.

And by calling something a luxury you are all but saying that it is not that important to help them out. Not looking at the bare meaning of the word but rather the connotation.

I know it's a bit difficult for u but I hope you can understand my point now!:)))

I guess both are wrong somewhat. Salman does come across as insensitive but after his rape woman comment, this is so trivial. May be he meant that he keeps himself busy so that there is no time to delve on such things and they dont bother him. Salman should undergo the program or class on fine art of communication.
DP has stated that she is suffering from depression so perhaps she has been diagnosed to be. But the think is the past history suggests that BW stars do use such antics for publicity and hence even a genuine case can invite suspicion. The idea to speak up and share is good one and if DP's contributions helps in awareness then its great. Its important that she is involved consistently and not on random basis.
Now coming to depression, while it can affect anyone but the poorer sections dont have the time or resources to think about this since the daily focus is to get food and at times medicine and clothes. They just cant afford to think about the mental well being or mood swings or socialization. The priority lies in fulfilling of basic necessity of food and shelter. In that sense its the disease of the rich.

people why don't u understand the difference between CLINICAL DEPRESSION and emotionally getting depressed.
Deepika's was clinical depression... she was very successful and happy both professionally and personally but due to the chemical changes in her brain or hormonal changes she suffered from clinical depression... blame the brain chemistry... i don't know why ppl make fun of mental illness... they talk so ignorantly make ridiculous remarks...
those who have suffered or are suffering from mental illness only know what they have to go through or are going through...
atleast Google if u don't know about it.

And Salman was right. Depression is a luxury for rich people and the likes of DP to use for their own publicity. Poor people have no time to diagnose or treat themselves if they suffer from depression. Its a rich people fad to have a shrink and to be "labeled" as something so that they can stand apart from others and have something to discuss at parties.

😲Please, don't say something like this..I really hope you never get to experience depression. It takes away everything from you.Everything..
And at last , the already life-less life.

ETA- Just read that you know how it feels to be depressed yet you continued to talk in that tone. You might just think everyone who has objected your opinion here in this thread are preaching but certainly they are not..
Depression in scary so much that I don't even dare to explain ..If you know It.I have nothing else to say.

I believe these ppl.. celebrities..

Get depressed, sexually abused, molested, heart broken.. they remember things.. they get in to fights with others...and other news worthy things.. just when their movies r about to be released..

Just like their movie promotions.. these stories comes of fake... unreal and I don't believe it.

IF DP came out about her depression before her movie promotion.. I would believe her..

On this one I am with salman.. she is making a mockery of depression to promote her movie...

Someone please enlighten me!

Bcoz ur boy dumped her for kat
I donot believe her depression story at all... its like a brand value for her bt whatever she is doing is good her foundation has helped lots of ppl

Nice try or maybe because she is getting sick and tired of your boy's wild antics and wants to break free of him? No wonder she never acknowledges him IRL or even values him as a life partner!
So much for being #boyfriendgoals

Neither Salman's comment shows that he thinks Depression is a luxurious disease nor DP's comment shows that she 'blasted' at Salman for that comment.

Desperate journalism 😆
