But when I watched Awarapan, I realized what a great actor is hidden behind all the smooching. Yes, he's a charming actor, and has a unique style and aura in him.

I really wish he bounces back soon, but I'm afraid it's too late now.

Piya more bhole bhole was a recent hit song I believe. It might not be that late yet 😉

Cuz he didn't have the X-factor. The whole "serial kisser" image (without the acting chops to back it up) was only able to take him this far.

Hated him when he used to do those sleazy movies with kissing, bedroom scenes like Aashiq Banaya aapney, Zeher etc
But then watched Jannat, OUATIM, Kalyug, Raaz 2, Shanghai, etc, and realized hes quite a good actor, when he does serious roles
Did he go on a hiatus when his son got cancer? Maybe thats why his career stalled suddenly?
Hes had some decent hits in his career, but then he fizzled out

He is underrated but the problem is that he got type casted.. When given the opportunity he did rock it with his performance, but he was never able to get above the serial kisser tag.. Also he is reclusive and does not seem to be the type who would try vehemently for a part or role in his career, which as I see it does not get you anywhere.. And I don't think any actor has managed to make a succesfull transition from being a sex and erotic movie hero to a superstar.. movie goers tend to have a hard time accepting that and just form an opinion k ye banda hai tou movie erotic hi hogi

True...He should've tried different roles and genres from the beginning of his career. Maybe he didn't get such offers, or just wasn't interested, and happy with the popularity he was getting. When he wanted to try other genres, it was too late, he was typecasted and audience wasn't able to accept him in other roles.

I also think he debuted in the wrong decade. Audience taste has changed alot from last decade to this decade. In last decade, audience was okay if an actor was doing the same shit in every movie. But now the audience wants variety. Unless it's coming from a Superstar like Salman who makes universal movies, audience doesn't like to see an actor doing the same genre again and again.

The actors of current generation RK, RS, Varun have understood that if they do the same role in every movie, then they will be typecasted. Hrithik too debuted around the same time Emraan debuted, but he experimented alot and was versatile, that's why he became a Superstar and still in the game.

He did poor films have after Raaz 3.

Emraan had string of flops and he came back to bhatt camp but it was rather too late.

Emraan did try non-erotic genre, but audience never accepted him in such type of films. Though lets not talk about novelty, when Salman and SRK have made their careers by doing movies of the same genre since inception.

Yes he did, but he never stopped doing the kiss or sex related scenes. In his other movies though the theme was different he never stopped playing the lust filled guy. When the whole khaandan goes to watch the movie, such scenes do make elders squirm and youngsters too as both feel embarrassed. Emraan tag is of a erotic or sex guy so watching his movie is generally perceived as being sex filled only and that makes one look bad or not nice. Hence many people avoid that. Salman and SRK have build their image across the age groups and their movies are comfortably watchable by whole khaandan. Moreover they do same stuff but that is acceptable stuff something which is not embarrassing or erotic. The same stuff works with families and biggest eg is the hindi serials which have only one theme- saas, bahu saazish and property ke peeche plotting😆😆😆 and its recycled since the inception of formula by Ekta. The same dose of bending anti gravity and dupatta flying😆😆 which is love and to add man handling is deeper love😆. In short you need to appeal to masses to sustain longer.

When did he even have stardom? Most of his movies flopped..🤔

Akki, Ajay, Sunny Deol, Govinda have more Flops and Disasters than Hits in their career. Still they were called Superstars. Box office can't be always used to judge stardom or popularity.

Because he doesn't have the x star factor. His USP was kissing and then everyone in BW started kissing so that took away his main audience pull. People say he's a good actor but there are lots of good actors around. Truth is he never had that kind of attraction for the masses and therefore no one misses him.

But he was a star, wasn't he?? He was bankable enough to get solo lead movies, and is still getting them. I don't think an actor can become popular just by kissing. He was talented enough to get a fan following. Whether he was capable of being a Superstar or not is another matter. But let's not say that he was popular just because he was good at kissing.

I remember his son got cancer during the shooting of Raja Natwarlal. But no, he never took any break from movies.

I doubt he ever had superstar qualities in him.
With his limited abilties, i think he did really well. And always manages to get good songs. Just like shradda.

So if his films open well even now, i think thats a good thing already.

Not sure about his films' BO tho
