It has nothing whatsoever about not loving your country. Some passports r a hell of a lot more valuable in traveling and other stuff simply to begin with and many other benefits. Most people don't even want to give up their birth country citizenship but that country forces their hands by not recognizing dual citizenship. So you have to make a choice that makes more sense to you as in what is more beneficial to you and your kids for their higher education etc

I just don't understand what the issue is! If only dual citizenship was accepted by India they i'm pretty sure would never willingly let go of it.

Alia isn't given any crap about it? Nor is Imran and AFAIK DP has a foreign passport too. So what?
They were born to Indian parents (either on Indian soil or not) and live in India and work in the same country try earn and spend in that same country and try to give back to the society in their own ways maybe through charity.
Why is this such a huge issue!

And I'm not even a fan

DP has an Indian passport, there are pics of it and voting in elections and all that.

Imran and Alia don't have deshbhakt images, they don't do ads proclaiming how patriotic they are, how much they serve India blah blah. Also both got those citizenship at birth as the children of US/UK nationals. Not great but it's different from being born and brought up as an Indian and then removing Indian citizenship for a Canadian one, a country he has zero ties to.

Especially in the current climate when his Muslim colleagues are targeted and told 'they are not Indian, go to Pakistan' by the same people who are praising Candian Akshay's desbhakti!

Dunno about Alia but Imran took American citizenship when he was a teen, when he went to the US to live with his dad.

See .. it is a different thing to immigrate to a different country and take up the citizenship when you have plans of not settling down in the country of your birth.
But when you intend to portray an image of the most patriotic man on the planet and all the while, choosing to not even be a citizen of India .. that makes no sense. It's not like he doesn't lives here or does not makes hell lotta money by exploiting Indian's emotions. for that matter, he doesn't even accepts it openly about his Canadian citizenship. It's like he just wants to show himself as a certain man to make all the money possible but he is going to hide his real self for some shrewd reason.

Ah, guess he lied. It's stated in many articles he is US citizen by birth..

@red - so should Akshay be held responsible for that?

Also does that mean anyone can claim he doesn't love India or that he doesn't have a right to make socially relevant movies?

See I am not even a fan of him, I am a Khan fan myself. I just don't understand why he has to justify a personal life choice against making movies that are patriotic..

I think he did that for post bollywood age to enjoy the better facilities abroad and also so that his kids can have. a better future if they dont end up being actors! Their education n all can be in canada n he wont have to pay international student fees! Its not why he chose its more abt how he tries to lie abt it and hide it!

That's the third negative topic you're opening about padman and its actors ...
I'm curious to know why it's so important for you to spread negativity about it ?

Him not carrying Indian citizenship does not mean he doesn't serve the country .
As far as I know he still pays his taxes in India, doesn't he ?
Here in my country, many celebrities move their tax home just to avoid paying taxes in their country despite making their money there. That's far worse in my opinion and that's what I call unpatriotic !
