I dont think Aamir is a superstar. He is a great actor but he dosent create the kind of hysteria SRK and salman create. I dont think he has a huge fan following as the kind of movies he does dont really connect with masses.
Lagaan was a smashit, and it was a hit in every part of India...DCH was mainly targetted at the multiplex audience,it did well there..Mangal Pandey recovered its money,RDB was a superhit in the multiplexes and a hit in the small towns,Fanaa garnered a large audience emcompassing the classes and masses....Agreed Aamir doesnt generate hysteria, nor boasts of a blind fan following(a la SRK),but he STILL can lure the crowds to the marquee even with unconventional offbeat themes(recently RDB to cite..Aamir was the ONLY star)
I would say its rather better to give consistent hits, superhits and blockbusters(a la SRK and Aamir),rather than have just 4 blockbusters to one's credit with all other movies flopping(a la Hrithik )....I reckon one should give Hrithik some more time to prove his commercial viability(none of the Dhoom movies are the acid test, nor the krrish films...the true acid test for Hrithik is Jodha Akbar and KT,if these movies work, then that iota of skepticism that I harbour would vanish )...Hrithik's next film is the sequel to Krrish, which is a sureshot hit...I would christen him as the superstarif he espouses offbeat cinema and prove his viability with dicey movies too, not just with the superhero series or a Dhoom series!

I guess my point is that if salman and amir are saving grace of Bollywood, then Bollywood can certainly do without them. If KJ and YRF start hiring abhi in all their big budget movies.. abhi will become a star and srk no where to be seen.
Bottomline..The real superstars are YRF and KJ.....😆
Actually, after AB,the country hasnt seen a superstar of his echelon and stature,SRK isnt as Big as AB was in his heydays, and Hrithik and Abhi arent as big as SRK(the fact that a shoddy and chintzy Don was a hit ONLY thanks to SRK's presence in the movie corroborates my POV)....I reckon we must give both Hrithik and Abhi some more time, because both these actors YET have to deliver a cult film like DDLJ or Sholay, they surely havent yet reached the apotheosis of a superstar!...Hrithik and ABhi surely dont become superstars with just 4 and 6 hits(mostly multistarrers) respectively,AB at his zenith used to deliver hit after hit every year at regular clockwork,SRK too has many blockbusters to his credit....AB's very presence used to redeem mediocre films and render them eventually to be blockbusters, something which Hrithik and Abhishek cant guarantee (their very presence doesnt make a difference, coz in that case, movies like Lakshya and Umrao Jaan should have been superhits)..The next actor coming close to AB when it comes to guaranteeing hits just by the mere presence in a movie is SRK,lets make no bones about that....Hrithik surely can reach there,or even surpass SRK and join AB in his league IF he can promise hits with unconventional subjects and not just confine himself to superhero and dhoom flicks!!
