Actually I would've never watched that show, if Gul hadn't misleaded the audience, by promoting it as a story about brothers bonding. The show was promoted as a family drama, but Gul mata was again serving her stale mills and boons love story in the platter.

The show was still fine for the first few months. Yes, it had it's share of manhandling and regressiveness. The lead hero Shivaye was a certified MCP, but the other two brothers were very different from the typical Gul heroes. And they made me stick to the show. I was waiting for the show to focus on the story of the other two brothers, not realizing that Gul is making a fool out of me.😆

What I liked about the show was that, in the starting few months all characters had grey shades, instead of being black and white. The lead heroine Anika was also not mahaan at that time. The characters had depth, and they were actually relatable.

It was not a modern youth show, but it wasn't really regressive either.

I think after Shivaye-Anika marriage, the show became completely regressive, with that saas-bahu nonsense.

I've bashed other regressive shows too, but not much because I've never watched them regularly.

I like your POV, but I always wonder why people don't kick up as much a fuss over IB. Don't they worry about kids and teenagers watching the show and learning sexist things like thinking that wooing a girl is only by manhandling her (hey Shivay ends up with Anika after all no matter the bullying and she actually falls for him despite the forced marriage and receiving no apology from him even)? This is sad as this is what is happening in India right now. Bullying a girl into accepting him or if not killing/raping her. The concept of non-respect for women is present in IB and quite a no. of movies. If only IB and such movies received an iota of the criticisism PPK and now TSMSP is receiving, we would have gotten rid of such regressive content long ago. Which is why my concern is are people are actually picking and choosing regressive content to target? If so, we can never get rid of regressive content ever because producers will continue to make regressive content as long as it sells.
