you are not understanding. Looks are an important part of making the character real. That is the reason, actors take so much efforts in looking their part.

The heroine and hero, has to look good, handsome, beautiful, appealing, to make people feel for them. While Villains n vamps have to look their part too. Mostly ugly and scary.

As much as we wud hope for looks to not matter in real world. In film n tv media, it does matter to create a believable character.

It is the strength of the role that matter and not screen time.
Also being purely bad or evil, does not mean you will be forgotten, I mean the most popular character in Indian cinema history are Gabbar, Mugamboo and Don. FFS.
How much screentime did Amrish Puri had in mr. india?? Still people only remember him, and not Anil Kapoor's character. Do people even remember the name of his character (I know but, well you get the point).

That guy in the pic is the greatest example of bad is good in cinema.
If Ranveer is even 1/3 of as good as him, he will sweep all the attention.

I am no history expert but so far I know Khilji was evil. I feel Ranveer will have the most powerful character in the movie. Since Shahid is good actor so there is a chance he might give his best performance but Ranveer is no less. There is a huge possibility that his portrayal of Khilji will grab max attention.

That's because bad boys have no limits and limitations...They have no rules, no restrictions, no morals and no ethics...That gives the actors a lot of space to play with...To top it, if the villain also is the author backed central character of the film, then the hero stands no chance...On the other hand the heroes are restricted with so many rules and morals and what not, that unless their characters are author backed, they hardly can do anything in that limited space...

Either way, Ranveer and Shahid will be a treat to watch...I only worry for Padmavati aka Deepika! We have to wait and watch how she will be able to stand on her own in the presence of these two stellar actors!
