I won't specifically highlight just 'Indian shows' because I have seen so called 'regressive' stuffs in many third world dramas too. But it's a habit of many people to put down everything 'Indian'. For me though, it's just matter of taste... as long as people are sensible enough to draw a line between reality and fiction, nothing will cause an issue.
It's important to see the intricacy of a story from story's point of view & more important to keep aside the idea of using extreme logic. If one's thought behind everything is as standard as
marriage = crime, lust, sex pedophilia or catching & falling = romance, than it becomes a problem. In that scenario it's best for that person to stop watching such shows right away.
Social media has it's pros and cons, suddenly every action is welcomed with an overreaction and that's very funny. Everyone wants to play around with this newly found weapon called 'social media'... doesn't matter whether they possess the skills to operate it sensibly or not. The idea of becoming 'socially alert' and active has become alluring. Another passing phase maybe.
Anyway, Gulaal was one amazing show. Very beautiful. One has to have an open mind however, to watch & enjoy it.
