Haven't seen IPK3 but to each it's own. Honestly, putting aside this progressive vs regressive debate, people need to develop sensibility to differentiate between what's real and what's fiction and than from there they can go ahead and choose shows that suit their taste and sensibilities.

I won't specifically highlight just 'Indian shows' because I have seen so called 'regressive' stuffs in many third world dramas too. But it's a habit of many people to put down everything 'Indian'. For me though, it's just matter of taste... as long as people are sensible enough to draw a line between reality and fiction, nothing will cause an issue.

It's important to see the intricacy of a story from story's point of view & more important to keep aside the idea of using extreme logic. If one's thought behind everything is as standard as
marriage = crime, lust, sex pedophilia or catching & falling = romance, than it becomes a problem. In that scenario it's best for that person to stop watching such shows right away.

Social media has it's pros and cons, suddenly every action is welcomed with an overreaction and that's very funny. Everyone wants to play around with this newly found weapon called 'social media'... doesn't matter whether they possess the skills to operate it sensibly or not. The idea of becoming 'socially alert' and active has become alluring. Another passing phase maybe.

Anyway, Gulaal was one amazing show. Very beautiful. One has to have an open mind however, to watch & enjoy it.

Man, every Gul show is an atrocity... At the most. Geet started out fine and sweet. Then IPKKND, happened... Still decent. Then QH which seemed fine and sweet (as per the first set of leads were concerned) then it went for a toss. Then the Sony show happened and bad female lead for the first time. Then Ishqbaaz happened only this time like IPKKND 1, Nakul and Surbhi have amazing chemistry. Gul's problems are as follows:
a) repetitive storyline
b) arrogance
c) unnecessary war with fans
c) pride and arrogance again
d) not valuing her actors
e) not being business smart (as in keeping her pride aside and doing what benefits her work)
No matter how terrible the storyline is, if it had been Sanaya Barun or even Drashti and Gurmeet they would have pulled it off so brilliantly. Gul this time didn't realise despite all the screaming that a) her story is bullshit b) her fans lost interest c) Tomar can not act to save her life d) the atrocious costumes make it worse d) she can't make anybody a celebrity - she isn't Ekta. And even Ekta understands that business and pride are two different things. Even if she gives her friends roles that fail or does multiple favors for her circle... One cannot deny the fact that she has the art of picking amazing pairings. IPKKND 1 was due to the chemistry between Barun and Sanaya, Ishqbaaz is the same... As the couple has the IPKKND 1 lead couple like chemistry both offscreen and onscreen. Geet was the first show ever (to my knowledge) to have the whole rabid Fandom, online following and craze that I've come across. Mainly, Gul's problem was that she doesn't value her viewers. A page from Ekta's book, despite the curses she gets on a daily basis - she rarely is seen insulting her viewers to the face. Pride and business are two different things, Madam Gul. You can't insult your viewers and expect mullah. We aren't idiots.

^ Yes, Ekta doesn't disregard her viewers where as she takes their wishea into account. However, one of her creative head Nivedita basu is Gul's doppelganger who are too big for their britches.

Ekta agrees that showing a liplock on screen cost her viewers, so she decided not to do it anymore.

Yes, she gives chance to her friends but she also has the eye for best talent. all of Gul's actors cant act to save their life.

My opinions are different.Rudra often manhandled paro(he even manhandled while interrogating her),he disregarded his subordinate's suggestion of getting professional help for paro when it was evident that she was going through some shock/trauma after he had killed her husband and put her in jail,he too tried sexually intimidating her,he threatened her with lives of her loved ones if she didn't sign papers which stated that tejawat was indeed involved in arms smuggling...rudra WAS right, tejawat was a smuggler but paro was not a witness to any of tejawat's crimes...so why should she have signed any papers? when paro refused to sign those papers he resorted to these various dirty tricks to get his way...I don't think Saurabh Tewari's heroes are exactly non abusive.😆

BTW I am looking forward to adhura alvida too...seems like harshad's character will not be a jerk unlik these heroes we are discussing...and they have got a very good pairing...I don't like cinevistas' thrillers so hope the thriller part is less and it ends up being a decent show if not anything more...HC-JW's pair should not get wasted...

I didn't watch the initial episodes, i started watching from the marriage track and i thought Rudra and paro misunderstood each other, he believed she was a witness because she was openly calling tejawat a god and she believed he's a murderer because she aw him shooting her husband even though she was unaware that he actually saved her. I use to like watching the show and the actor was very good, i usually have a soft corner for men in uniform so 😆
But this show as they projected Rudra as the RIGHT one with the plot line, therefore may be the harsh actions of the male lead was taken subtly because i remember being so mad that his run away mother comes back after being abused and female lead asks him to forget and forgive, atrocious. One thing of the show which was great was his chachi who tried a lot to torment Paro but he never allowed that, i used to love the dialogues too😆

I can assure you that Adhura Alvida is a beautiful love story and no its neither a thriller nor the male lead is abusive. Infact Harshad plays a character who probably will be husband goals if things don't go haywire and they stick to the concept

Ekta has given break some TV icons like Ronit, Ram, Rajeev, Karan, Harshad, KVB, Sushant, Iqbal. All of them known for their acting prowess and equal fan base with a scintillating graph too

Gul has mentored actors like Sobti, Gurmeet, KSG , where sobti and KSG quit her show for doing some c grade BW films and Gurmeet nevertheless ended up playing a bhoot in a bhatt erotica 😆.. I am not saying its the actors fault, but nobody considers you an actor if Gul khan makes you famous 😆

Majority of the recent TV serials are regressive. I am tired of watching guys with crappy attitude & habit of manhandling women as male leads. Revenge love story is over used plot. PPK may not have the above qualities but main issue was makers tried to portray a marriage between an adult & a kid as 'cute' stuff. They constantly gave some lame excuses to support this idea, sometime by saying its about 'women empowerment' or calling it 'progressive show' & then compared it with GOT. That also irked many.

IPK3 is Gul Khan show is it ? That explains. 😵 I say bring down all these MCP shows along with Icchadhaari Naagin etc type craps or even Sasural Simar Ka where leads become flies etc. 👎🏼

Indian Television is messed up for the longest time now, and taking PPK off air might be the only positive thing here in a long long time. In my opinion, there's no difference between the glorified crap GK shoves (in particular) down us and PPK which tried to shamelessly glorify a pre-teen kid talking about honeymoons, suhaag raat and leaving studies to help household. Nothing to watch in Tele IMO. Last good show was Bade Acche Lagte Hai for me.

Hahah yes, so true. I always say that people can abuse her call her names but she is a one woman army who established a freaking big company and gave tv the best actors there can ever be. And, her actors are not just best in acting but are dedicated as hell.
You know Smriti was made to shoot ON HER WEDDING DAY. 😆 and, till the kast day of her pregnancy. 👏
Ronit's wedding was scheduled according to the dates Ekta and Balaji gave him because he waa doing multiple shows of hers that time. 😆
Shweta Tripathi was in a spat with her husband and he often wrecked havoc on sets but Ekta made sure ST reached home safely often sending her drivers with her and postponing shoots to fit Shweta's life.

Do you think Gul's actors have this kind of dedication? Nada...
