So, I got forced to go watch JHMS last night, now usually I don't mind going to watch SRK flicks in the theatre (I was looking forward to RAEES, days before the release) but for this film I had no interest yet I was forced by family..

Anyway, this film.. dear o dear, I mean what the hell was it suppose to be? Not a single epic scene or dialogue, SRK kissing Anushka? 🤢 The songs were beyond terrible besides maybe Radha. The climax? Non existent. The film was just average..

this film would have been justifiable if it starred someone like Varun. Sid, hell even Ranbir or Ranveer (nothing to do with age) I think it may have even worked and would have been a proud notch on their careers.

But Shah Rukh is a global superstar, there is no way in the year 2017 he should be making such mediocre films like this, unacceptable. Didn't he recently say he is making films now to bag a national award? No wonder this film is a super flop.

Close your eyes and imagine Aamir Khan in the year 2017 starring in JHMS? You can't, because he would never lower his standards to Srks, he'll I can't even imagine Salman Khan doing such a film.

Now sure, Tubelight flopped and was probably a worse film then JHMS but at least he tried something different, not the same old love romance Rubish.

Srk' next now is 15 months away, Christmas solo release (for now 😆) in yet another love story starring the same person Anushka Sharma, the dwarf film has a high budget, I honestly wouldn't be surprised to see the film shelved.

No idea how the overseas fans still believe in him (I head JHMS is breaking records in pakistan?)

Srk is done as a solo superstar in India, he will never reach the top again, his script sense is absurd, his fans deserve better.

Romance is not a jaded genre. Problem is I didn't buy the the pairing. I don't buy 50 something superstar in this intense romance with Anushka. I just don't.

Sultan didn't have love story as the main premise and neither did PK. Even in Rab Ne, Srk was shown to be older man in arranged marriage so it worked.

I don't wanna see these 50 year olds romancing young girls. It's gross and NOT ROMANTIC!

Now had this movie started Karisma, Madhuri, aishwarya, rani, preity, or kajol; hell yeah I would have been intrigued. That would have been chemistry.

I personally don't mind srk romancing anushka or any other young actress but the thing is, there is no story, movie is just plain bad, very very bad. It doesn't work and it doesn't help that they have no chemistry either but that's not really the issue atleast for me.
2hr 20 min and what do you do? you are in search of a ring, yes its a metaphor but it just doesn't work.

In addition to what Desigal said, JHMS had Bollywood's interpretation of loud, buoyant love of people in their 20s. I don't have a problem with SRK-Anu pairing per se. You just need to refine the story a bit.

The same JHMS with SRK and a divorced Anu, or a single mom, would have added another angle. If the Khans are to star in out-and-out romance, the romance has to be age-appropriate. The definition of romance is different for a teenager, people in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, and so on.

This stereotypical version of romance that Bollywood loves to shove down our throats makes an already weak product look worse.

JHMS was such a missed opportunity. It could have been a soft, mature romantic drama - a "coming of age" story for people who are already of age but are lost and bruised.

The same actors as Suri and Taani were warm and relatable. Even if Raj was loud, it fit in the overall mood of the film. It was such a joy - to watch the husband and wife come together in an arranged marriage.

I don't quite get why every Bollywood rom-com has to be loud, washy, and wacky these days. There is absolutely no subtlety anymore. It's as if everyone is a horny and stupid 17-year-old from a stereotypical American high school rom-com.

Love is also respect. It's a journey to one another. It's about appreciation. Bollywood was good at dishing out such romances. I'm not sure what's happened lately. Everything rom-com ends up becoming about harmones, with ALL the cliches of a YA novel forged into it.

Handsome, lost guy - with a painful past - meets awesome, quirky girl - who is unlike any girl he's met before (but is like every other girl); romance ensues, and with it, they come to find themselves.

Personally I loved the film
I have no complaints from my end
Small incidents made them come closer to each other
The GAS part was a bit over stretched
But apart from that the rest of it was lovely

When srk did something different in Fan and Raees, people didn't like him. When he did the same old romantic hero role, people still don't like him.
Of course I agree his role and acting in Fan and Raees were good but the movies were crap. I myself didn't enjoy those movies even though I am his fan.

SRK should choose good scripts and good movies. It's high time he does that. He should realize that he is beyond BO success so he should stop running after it.

Yes, his last few films flopped and underperformed in BO but that doesn't mean he is losing his superstardom. He will always be one of the legends of bollywood.

The only thing is he should give more importance to the script.

Secondly, Tabu, Kajol, Rani, Preity ka zamana gaya. Today, these actresses are no more lead materials 😭 so how can we expect film makers to cast them opposite srk? People need to be practical. The fact is, even the current superstars don't want to work with them😭 I don't mind srk working with Deepika or Anushka or even Alia but the movie and the script should be good.

Exactly, to start off with I'm having a difficult time with the older actors romancing these girls the ages of actors that played their daughters (yes, the little girl that played Anjali in KKHH, Srk's daughter, is Anu's age). To add onto that, the romance is YOUTHFUL. It doesnt work. It looks off.

Had Ranveer, Varun, Ranbir been in this movie, it might have worked. Hell I even hated Saif's character in Cocktail coz he was acting like a guy in his 20s or early 30s, when he's obviously NOT.

What's wrong with our film makers? Why can't they portray mature romance in films? They're perpetually caught in romance between youngsters and can't seem to portray romance with older characters, despite actors that are older.

Like you said; love happens at any age. But the expression of that love changes with age.
