😆 Think romance isn't a jaded genre per se. But people do not care about a worn out SRK doing a complete romance based film with outstretched arms at his age. Especially with younger heroines. I agree about him not reaching the top anymore. People predict every year that "he will be back!!" but it's 2017, time to accept reality. That's not to say he doesn't care, he cares very much. He wouldn't then constantly chase popular trends and fail at them. He thought masala is the norm so did CE, HNY. When intelligent films were becoming the norm after PK, he went after Fan and Raees. He tried everything for Dilwale. He is desperately trying everything but nothing is working out because of his sad script sense and his enablers. He would hang on for a couple more years but yeah, he isn't reaching the top again.

Exactly, to start off with I'm having a difficult time with the older actors romancing these girls the ages of actors that played their daughters (yes, the little girl that played Anjali in KKHH, Srk's daughter, is Anu's age). To add onto that, the romance is YOUTHFUL. It doesnt work. It looks off.

Had Ranveer, Varun, Ranbir been in this movie, it might have worked. Hell I even hated Saif's character in Cocktail coz he was acting like a guy in his 20s or early 30s, when he's obviously NOT.

What's wrong with our film makers? Why can't they portray mature romance in films? They're perpetually caught in romance between youngsters and can't seem to portray romance with older characters, despite actors that are older.

Like you said; love happens at any age. But the expression of that love changes with age.

Anjali from KKHH is Anushka's age? Yikes! How creepy! Glad I don't watch such films.

I still have yet to watch JHMS but I want to comment on this: there has been a disconnect between the audience and the films. Whether it's through marketing, script or the films catering to a niche audience? The industry needs to figure it out. What happened to films like Dear Zindagi or Sultan? Those actually aged appropriate roles for SRK and Salman. These two were some of their best critically acclaimed performances.

I personally don't mind srk romancing anushka or any other young actress but the thing is, there is no story, movie is just plain bad, very very bad. It doesn't work and it doesn't help that they have no chemistry either but that's not really the issue atleast for me.

2hr 20 min and what do you do? you are in search of a ring, yes its a metaphor but it just doesn't work.

It was storyless

I said so earlier as well. SRK needs to stop doing these mushy films. For someone who has been an SRK fan for the longest time, I have stopped watching his films off late. I have only watched Dear Zindagi and Don2 because somehow the current SRK relates better that way to the current age audience. I didn't even bother about JHMS or JTHJ or Dilwale or Fan. I had to watch Raees because people were talking so much about that don whose story the film was based on. But it not a well made film.
Anyway, SRK needs to understand that fresher his film ideas, better he relates to the current audience. The old age formulae are not working for him because people are actually bored of all these 50 years old actors. Their fandoms can all fight and try to believe that all these Khans have so many fans but the real truth is that neither of the Khans can guarantee even a good opening if they do a stale storyline. This is something that Aamir and now even Akshay understands. Hence, all the different films these days.

SRK romancing Anu is not the problem. Justify the backstory. Give depth to the character. 50 year olds fall in love with 25 year olds. It does happen. But there has to be some sort of justification. Like there was in Cheeni Kum. Imtiaz can write really well, the only problem is that he loses the plot at some point. It feels really disjointed. And this is coming from someone who hasn't watched the movie, and is not interested in watching it either, but basing it on the trailer/s alone.

And really film makers should think of making mature love stories. The SRK/Juhi and SRK/Kajol pairing can give Varun/Alia a run for their money. You need a good story for them. SRK/Kajol in MNIK worked because their pairing was justified. However, that wasnt a love story. The problem is that Bollywood is scared of attempting movies like the Jack Nicholson, Diane Keaton starrer Something's Gotta Give.
