Deepika Padukone and Varun Dhawan are, reportedly, unlikely to team up for Shoojit Sircar's upcoming film October, according to DNA. Reports of the two actors coming together for the first time had surfaced a while ago. While Dhawan's involvement in the project was confirmed by the actor himself in an Instagram post, Padukone's role in the film was being conjectured.

However, according to a source close to the film unit, Padukone might not take up the role as it lacks the kind of weight she looks for in a character. The film is reportedly based on the male protagonist's character and this might keep Padukone from signing on the dotted line.

In the past, the actress, who is currently shooting for Padmavati, has played some strong characters with elan. Her performance in Piku garnered both critical and commercial acclaim.

That along with her portrayal of Mastani, opposite Ranveer Singh in Bajirao Mastani, helped cement her as one of the most charismatic actors in the industry.

She was directed by Sircar in Piku, where she and Amitabh Bachchan, played one of the most memorable father-daughter duos Bollywood has seen. Although, there is no confirmation from neither Padukone, nor Sircar, the two might not collaborate on October, due to the shortcomings of the former's role in the film.
