Ok , here is my review of jagga jasoos and will try will keep it concise and to the point. As is my usual way , I will start by

1. Story - Story is of a man who due to some circumstances becomes a part in purulia arms case . Due to his luck, he meets an orphan boy jagga and adopts him. However some big level officers are after him and he has to leave jagga behind after getting him admitted in a residential school. After that, Jagga gets a tape on his each birthday . However one birthday the tape does not arrive and it turns out that guy is dead . Jagga does not admit it and the story revolves around whether guy is alive and will jagga meet him again . Along the way jagga gets embroiled in arms deal case altogether as well.

2. Acting - every one was decent , however I liked bob biswas the most.

3. Music - thumbs up from my side

4. Direction - average

5. screenplay - lost the plot during the last 40- 50 minutes of the movie and story feels rushed to come to an ending

Overall - Movie starts on an extremely promising note and for a movie buff like me I got the sense that I am in for something special. At the intermission stage , I was excited . Movie came on main plot after intermission and the climax was extremely rushed and sadly seemed childish . Anurag Basu must take the blame for the climax for it is clear that it is the delay in making the movie which has caused the damage. During the whole climax sequence , ranbir kapoor is looking mota sa( due to him getting beefed up for sanju baba role ) and has a wig .

Anyway , it was lovely to watch the 75 % of the movie and it was an honest attempt but alas for anurag basu whose time management leaves a lot to be desired. One should watch the movie for the initial 75 % alone and so should not be missed if you watch movies for the love of cinema.

I go with 3.5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️and1/2⭐️

Thanks for your Review Ana .
I agree with @red part .

This movie is such a missed opportunity budget and release time wise .
I blame them for not releasing it on 7th April 😡. If this released in summer holidays, it would have been a commercial hit as well.

Watched it n really liked it. Very whimsical and Disney touch was visible, and some cases and gestures n words were so bong ,I could really relate. What I loved is it talks about a very serious issue in a very light way yet still succeds to give the message.I hope this kind of films are made more in bw,I personally really enjoy such films, lil dreamy lil fantasy lil too innocent . Musical concept is good but I can see not everyone will like it,I love Disney films where people breakout in songs, many may find it tiring though.
The length could have been less, editing could be more sleek, and too much Infos were given so if u r not familiar with the cases u can get confused. I wish they had separated it in parts. Then it'd have worked better. Also after the first half u expect a lot n second half doesn't fully live up to it.But nonetheless it's something so sweet new n beautiful that I could overlook the flaws, did get lil impatient at times though.

Acting wise I loved rk ,kat was really good n funny not strikingly bad like she was in fitoor n bbd.But my fav was Shashwata I'm so glad he got the role cz he nailed it.He's one of my fav Bengali actor n hope to see him more in bw.

Oh and Galti see mistake was a riot on-screen,some songs look n sound so much better in theatre.

Watched it today and LOVED it. What a delightful little caper! ONLY Anurag Basu is capable of such an extravaganza. And only Ranbir could've done justice to what Basu envisioned. I loved every minute of it. The songs, the locales, beautiful north-east. Even Kat was awesome! I've always disliked wooden Katty but this klutzy Kat was so endearing. Ranbir is just brilliant. Can I have a sequel please? ❤️ ❤️

Why did people not like it? Beats me. 😕

Finally saw the film..what a awesome movie it was😳First 20 mins where the chota jaggu part I felt its slow but from there the movie picks up pace and loved till the end of movie😳so part 2 is cmg ? thats what I felt seeing climax scene. Ranbir acting is praiseworthy asusual but suprisingly kat was amazing in this film she acted with so much ease😳being her fan loved to see her acting improved😳RanKat had sizzling chemistry in APGK and it didnt decrease at all till this movie when they both come onscreen and especially the liplock at the end...😳jaggu father character is also the one which I liked and the father son emotional scenes
Last but not the least Basu vision and the visuals which were shown were too good...⭐️ Damn this movie need to be hit as such kind of movies are rare nd one should encourage these kind of movies.😊very few persons like basu have this talent and hope he doesnt feel let down bcz of box office figures as we need his movies more...

A musical movie "less grim & adult" involving children with Feluda, Shundi Jagga Jasoos makes you realise how little we know of Satyajit Ray
