Watched it n really liked it. Very whimsical and Disney touch was visible, and some cases and gestures n words were so bong ,I could really relate. What I loved is it talks about a very serious issue in a very light way yet still succeds to give the message.I hope this kind of films are made more in bw,I personally really enjoy such films, lil dreamy lil fantasy lil too innocent . Musical concept is good but I can see not everyone will like it,I love Disney films where people breakout in songs, many may find it tiring though.
The length could have been less, editing could be more sleek, and too much Infos were given so if u r not familiar with the cases u can get confused. I wish they had separated it in parts. Then it'd have worked better. Also after the first half u expect a lot n second half doesn't fully live up to it.But nonetheless it's something so sweet new n beautiful that I could overlook the flaws, did get lil impatient at times though.
Acting wise I loved rk ,kat was really good n funny not strikingly bad like she was in fitoor n bbd.But my fav was Shashwata I'm so glad he got the role cz he nailed it.He's one of my fav Bengali actor n hope to see him more in bw.
Oh and Galti see mistake was a riot on-screen,some songs look n sound so much better in theatre.
I totally echo your sentiments. I think Bongs will relate to this movie more than others. Its not really an art movie as people are making it out to be but its more with Bengali ethos and flavor ...
Bengalis' fascination for detective stories, for adventure and travel and also for pressing issues of the world...all these are present in the movie.
@Bold: I really liked that too, how they portrayed the deadly issue of illegal arms trade Mafia without getting didactic or pompous as in some other movies on serious issues. Just gentle prods to stir public conscience. 👏
I find HW musicals very annoying and some BW musicals boring as well but this movie has a jampacked story and the musical format has a logical explanation, Jagga sings to overcome his stutter, its not like other BW musicals where characters burst out into songs for no apparent reason 😆
Agree abt the length, it could have been cut short by 15 mins at least and the end part was way too rushed and badly edited.
Totally agree abt Saswata, hes one of the best actors in Bengali cinema now...and abt Kat too, she was endearingly funny.
And same for me for Galti se Mistake, I loved it more on the big screen, it was just a total blast!
PS: Also loved how they showed the North East, so beautiful, so gorgeous...loved the Bihu dance part too, Kat looked so lovely in the sari dancing Bihu
