No actress has STAR POWER that will make a bad film success! PERIOD.

I really feel sorry for Anu. She is responding the way industry and IF wants her to function - By accepting "lead" roles in Khan movies and doing chhotey motey home productions that have meaty stuff for her own growth.

Kahaan gaye woh log (Khan fandoms) jo Phillauri ko even 8CR+ opening bhi nahin dila sakey?? 😡

In the end she had to rely on WOM which even non-Khan heroines like Vidya and Kangy do.

Even with most ATBBs behind her, she still fails to be accepted as a true "No. 1". 😭

Sultan, PK would have done about the same regardless of her. ADHM- yes, her presence contributed to the collections. But NH10 is where she proved her Star Power, she carried the movie on her shoulders superbly, smartly marketed it and made it a hit. Without Anushka and the spunk she showed, the movie wouldn't have appealed to the audiences so much.

Every Female dominated film has to rely on WOM.The film has to be exceptionally good and get glorious reviews otherwise its gone... Doesn't matter who the actress is...Look at Naam shabana..Just the presence of akshay made the difference. Now who is a bigger actress? Tapsee or Anu? Obviously Anu but still Phillauri bombed...It is a sad reality..

So the fan groups can stop fighting now..😳 All Female actors are on the same page...

Both the films that you mentioned could have worked with another actress of the same repute as anu or even lesser...

Fact remains,actresses cant bring in audiences..

I haven't seen Phillauri and I did feel like she looked a bit subdued in it but I was talking about other films like NH10, BBB and even Ricky Bahl one. I haven't seen ADHM but if I ever will, it'll be because of her. I've always felt like she holds her own onscreen and off it, it's another matter that she doesn't deliberately try to hold your attention. I like that about her.

Also, like someone said, she is probably not the best in any one field and there are actors with better looks, better screen presence, better acting and dance etc but she is good in all these fields and I don't see why everyone must have a USP. Sometimes there can be actors who are just good or nice rather than great and you still like them. I think she isn't the biggest star out there but she is one and in a suitable film, she does well.
