Star power is a myth.

Katrina supposedly had it but what about Fitoor.

When Sonakshi came out, she had like 4-5 back to back blockbusters but what happened to Lootera?

Even Deepika had a mega 2013 but what about Finding Fanny..

Kangana came out with QUEEN but what happened to Revolver Rani?! She then followed the mega success of TWMR with the flop Katti Batti.

If an actress happens to star in a few films that do well, it doesn't mean they have "star power". It just means those films were enjoyed by theatre-goers. Same goes for guys.

Where was Salman's "star power" when Veer came out between the hugely successful Wanted + Dabangg...???

EDIT: Anushka has a decent fanbase, I am one of her fans, but after the reviews of Phillauri, I knew I wasn't going to watch it in the cinema. I watched it online last night, and it was so slow-paced and unfunny. The last 10 mins were cool though.

So each film will have it's own destiny. No star can carry a bad film. Maybe except for Salman Khan (😕)

I think she does have star power and definitely has many fans... With Phillauri, there just wasn't any thrill to go and watch... Like NH10 where she was the killing machine 😆 Also, like Salman always goes shirtless in a movie, because he knows that's his USP, same way Katrina always shows off her body and dance moves and Deepika looks beautiful or shows off her body, Anushka was in a very ... de glam role and maybe that's also why there wasn't much interest..

I think NH10 did pretty well, right? If she makes something fast paced again, I am pretty sure it'll do well. She has a great screen presence and people do like her, just not enough to sit through Phillauri..

^^Ehhh ok opinions really really differ but even her big fans admit that she has no screen presence. Anushka can be easily swallowed up by even random actors like even Suraj Sharma had more screen presence than her in Phillauri! Mind you, I actually liked her in Phillauri & thought it's a cute & nice film. But I've yet to meet an AS fan irl, India or abroad, and yet to see her display mind blowing "subtle" acting like everyone keeps harping on. She was good as Alizeh though even though Alizeh was a very annoying character, I thought she played her very well!esp for someone who went on record to say that, she absolutely didn't relate to Alizeh or understand her.. But watch Anushka in any movie after Rab Ne & BBB, so 2007-10, and I just don't see any screen presence. She's forgettable offscreen even if you like her acting, *on* it.

There is always someone better than Anushka in every field..Be it screen presence, acting, dancing, looks or just being enigmatic or controversial..There's nothing WOW in her..That's she lacks die hard fans too..No she is definitely not in the league of superstars neither in the league of superb actresses..

None of the actress have...if movie is really well received like kahaani, twm2, queen, neerja etc then it works else it fails most of the time. Phillauri always looked thanda movie at bo and after mediocre reviews it wasn't going to do much

Phillauri didn't got good reviews rather very mixed/mediocre reviews:

None of the actress gives hit movie with bad reviews. Even Kangana failed in Rangoon and Revolver rani. Whichever heroine oriented movies are hits have received excellent reviews. Be it kahaani, piku, neerja or queen

Infact mainly Khans can topple bad reviews and at least make the movies hit 😆

Yes, she does have star power in movies where she is the HERO or has important role...where she has good dialogues, scenes, hit songs or where she does action.

Saw star potential in her when we watched her very first film, RNBDJ

Its the same with most heroines, they get credit and BO success only when they have the most important part, when they get to do action (NH10 was a hit) or when the movie revolves around them, when they have the best dialogues, scenes and a chance to showcase their talent.

Examples, Vidya in Kahani, TDP, Parineeta,

Kangy in Queen,

Sonam in Neerja

Katty and DP sell movies also on their looks and glamor, other actresses have to showcase their talent in strong scripts which is centered around them.
