As a dancer myself madz western dancing lacks many things. No actress can match her I bw or classic dance forms. But she is bad at western ones

she was better coz she was SUPPOSED to be better

the entire scene was about how karisma wanted to prove she has it in her and madhuri being a bit nervous seeing how well she was dancing

so technically madhuri the actor let madhuri the dancer down on purpose

if it was role reversal..meaning madhuri playing karisma's role..she would have killed it

the script and that scene did not allow that..but that doesn't make madhuri any less of a dancer

exactly. it was scripted for the movie. why make it a real life situation.

I had read Shaimak's interview somewhere. He mentions, Karishma was a better dancer. But Madhuri overpowered her by her screen presence.

Still I feel, Madhuri as a dancer had more grace.

At 1:04, Madhuri's dancing posture looks more free. Karishma's hands are held closer to her thighs, which looks stiff.

1:06 Madhuri has better hand and leg coordination than Karishma.

1:19 Madhuri's hand posture is totally horizontal (in sync with back ground dancers). Karishma's is not.

1:24 Madhuri and other dancers; their hands are either touching their body or held very close to their body (giving a secured impression). Karishma's hands never come that close.

Timing; both are off at certain times with respect to other dancers (I felt, Madhuri missed timing more) . But most of the time, they were very well coordinated.

Any point I press pause, I can see Madhuri's face enjoying the dance. Karishma's (character's) mood may be angry. But it does not face the camera always like Madhuri's does.

Karishma was young. Her figure was fab. She was more energetic. But Madhuri's technical knowledge was superior. Difference between her dance and others is similar to violin and keyboard music. There is a smooth flow between the steps, no jumps. That's because of her Kathak training.

Also, she outshines others in her facial expression during dancing. (Even in Qee Sera, Prabhudeva is a far better dancer. But Madhuri's expression during her dance make the watch worthwhile). Every moment shows, she is enjoying what she is doing.

Thank you..i dont think many people realise dis..Karishma was supposed to better.Nisha was a trained dancer while Pooja was not.She used to dance only becoz of her love for dancing. Plus we see how she was very nervous when Rahul asks her to join his team. She had to show that nervousness too.

madhuri was the only one dancing here

karishma was playing kung fu and dancing if as a person made of cardboard is dancing..she looked manly, she was stiff, she was wide..

madhuri had the more girlish persona

no competition..

i have not watched this movie but have seen this song

A big Fat NO!

Karishma's dance has always looked vulgar to me. Be it with Govinda or with anyone else. And no grace. Thumping your body is never the better dance form. Karishma doesn't finish her steps. There's a major lack of finesse in her dancing.

She was the aggressive dancer. Certainly not the better one. And while we are at discussing DTPH, I would like to say.. She in no way deserved her NA. That's totally hilarious to me.

Madhuri is Madhuri for a reason. Just coz Karishma in dtph and Aish in Devdas was younger and jumpy.. doesn't make em better than Madz.

When I watch Dola re, My eyes are struck on Madz. I have never noticed Aish. She was stiff like Deepu was in Pinga.. and your eyes keep going to PC.

Madhuri's moves are so clean cut whereas Karishma has uncontrolled energy.

But I know why some may think Karishma was better - her body type, long legs, attitude matched the context while Madhuri had a bad body and she was supposed to be the docile one.
