Madhuri dance is overrated. just with one move of her kamar, people start to do wah wah wah which is beyond me.
She is good sometime but not always.

Yup come to think of it Madhuri's hand movements and expressions are better. But Karishma's body movements had more rhythm. I think this might have even been a tie.

Madhuri is always more graceful thnx to all her classical dance training.
In this sequence madhuri had more grace and was perfect. Karishma was supposed to dance in anger and so her dance had more of jerk movements.

Well Karisma danced and looked better because she is over a decade younger . She was 22 while Madhuri in her mid 30s. And while she was peaking at that time it was the ending phase of Madhuri

This always has been the case in terms of madhuri dancing with other actresses. In dola re, people were like aish was dancing better simply because she was more upbeat and had more energy, same thing here. I feel madhuri focuses more on graceful dancing than on energy or upbeat moves. Is energetic dance somehow better? I have no idea, elaborate on this people that know more about dancing or are dancers. But for me, her grace is amazing to watch. I think to have those controlled movements in the face of having an energetic partner is commendable. It shows that she is completely secure and skilled in her dancing. Though I have always loved karishma's dancing as well, but I think she is bit amateurish in comparison to madhuri.

If you see, Karishma's hands are little 'uncontrolled'.. they aren't as graceful or 'together' with her rest of the body. When you dance the rhythm should reach to your fingertips ...Madhuri is good from head to toe, head to fingers, she is 'together' ...doesn't look all over the place, but Karishma looks SLIGHTLY unrefined in her dance or all over the place because of her hand movements. Madhuri "completes" her every dance move from head to toes and fingers - she is refined, just look at both of their hands.

Madhuri also has this ease/grace despite the ...aerobic exercise type dance moves.

Overall se, both are good, this isn't SYTYCD anyway 😛

Also, just realised what the boys around Madhuri were wearing! :D 🤣

👏 Totally rewatched after you said this and noticed all the small details. Enhanced madhuri's dancing even more for me. Thank you for pointing it out!

Exactly!
Most important part of any dance is poise, gracefulness and expressions, which Madhuri has achieved in this dance.
Karishma's face is hidden by her hair for the most part and that takes away from the dance, looks untidy.
Madz dance postures, her body angles are more graceful than Karishma's/

Karishma danced better than this in Mujhko Hui naa Khabar...those dance movements were more precise and graceful and her face was expressive...here shes dancing in anger and jealousy so she danced more wildly while Madz dance was more controlled.

Madz lacked fierce expression the song needed. The attitude required for this dance form. She can do only choli n Dhaka dhak type songs. Karishma was better here

How come Madz won BA for DTPH over Sridevi in Judaai?

Both released in 97. Both superhits. But no one can question that Madz was nothing award worthy in DTPH. And to give her an award in same year...
