Achi baat hai.. at least they would know who their wives are and the various anniversaries.
All these other kings wouldn't even know their wives names or even they are actually married, I'm pretty sure if the maid was very pretty they would think she was one of their wife too 😆 😆

yeah how come he did'nt doult sultans were famous womanizers😕arey they kept list so that any raNDOM girl can't demand any share of money property. No anniversey celebrations😆

In the Mughal times for sure, the number & types of aphrodisiacs, pleasure enhancing techniques, appliances & as a consequence, the preventive methods were varied & many!! They won't be able to be replicated today. Akbar had 30-40 legal wives but the number of women in his harem including concubines, slave girls & old imperial ladies is estimated to be anywhere from 300-3000, depending on which historian One would like to believe, lol. And they never needed to remember any of their names because apart from their favourites/beloveds, they were seen as pleasure vessels & nothing really more. Maansingh is said to have 60 wives, yes. All of them had many wives, it was only a practical option to increase the chances of a male heir/s & fear due to king/Emperor's age. Also, higher number of women was seen as a point do honour as it was a clear indication of wealth & power of the kingdom/empire, thus king/Emperor.

+ Men were protectors. When a King was defeated/killed, his wives, sometimes daughters became the conqueror's responsibility. Men married many times to provide for and keep these women safe.

Some of the most prominent Mughals had young boys and eunuchs in their harem and their favorites. Ahem.

Pemberley: I think apart from the main queen, life for all would be quite disturbing

thats even more pathetic they did'nt even realise they were being wronged.in mughal era though they had more than 1 main queen. But rest lived like bird in goldmade cage

Ya... Thing is those were different times, different ideologies, different priorities.. It is quite difficult for us to even wrap our head around what went through during the time

I read that when Mughal areas got captured, a daughter was married off to the winner to protect the main queen while the rest of the harem became the harem of the conqueror.. But this I read on the internet so can't say much about the authenticity
