All of them had many wives, it was only a practical option to increase the chances of a male heir/s & fear due to king/Emperor's age. Also, higher number of women was seen as a point do honour as it was a clear indication of wealth & power of the kingdom/empire, thus king/Emperor.

Some of the most prominent Mughals had young boys and eunuchs in their harem and their favorites. Ahem.
