Not at all. Whether it is performance wise or box office wise, Sid has not surpassed Varun. Varun still has more solo hits accredited to him. Sid only has one solo hit and that is Ek Villain. and even then, he did not get rave reviews for his performance in EV.

Personally I believe they are both neck in neck!

These two have always been too commercial for me.

K & S was Fawad all the way.

I agree even though I am a Sid fan,with good directors he is effortless but even then he is not consistent and sometimes he comes across as too crafted! When you compare him to RANBIR AND RANVEER yes offcourse he is behind like by miles but I don't think Varun is any better!

The thing is Ranveer and Varun are already seen as the future SRK and future Salman by many mainstream media and many people. Time will tell if that is true but in case of Sid no one has seen him as future superstar anything. That could be a good thing vs expectations, bad thing vs potential. But people need to see potential in you to invest in you. Ranbir despite going through a lean patch is seen as the next Aamir.

Sid has a lot of good things, he is good looking, has a nice body, dances ok, acts ok but nothing that sets him apart in a field where everyone has a nice body or has something different. It is not always about looks. BW is littered with people who are just average and failed to make it. People with names like Abhishek Bachchan. Plus Sid does not have great screen presence that both Alia and Varun have. KJO can give him all the chances he wants but Sid is not one I would bet on having a long term career. Even for someone like Kat who barely acts, there is something special that sets her apart that is simply missing in Sid for me.

Ranveer and Varun are not the next SRK and Criminal.

They need their own identity instead of imitating people that came before them.

Nope, as much as I loved his character in Kapoor and Sons, it was an out and out Fawad's movie. His was the most appreciated and remembered character while Sid's char faded into the background. Though, I wish they had given some more scope to Arjun's charecter, my favourite of the lot.

Meanwhile, when compared to Varun, Sid is really bland on screen. Varun actually stands out in all his movies. His biggest asset is the number of super hit dance numbers he has to his credit and also his ability to entertain the audience in all his movies, even when the story is lame. This forum won't agree but he comes across as really adorable in sweet characters. Varun is an entertainer. And these are the kinds that bring you to the theater.

I really liked Sids acting in the movie I thought it was very sweet and he was fun to watch. Bt the thing was that Fawad got a character with a lot more scope where he had a lot more to do. And even my fav characters was Arjun. Bt coz of the complexity of Fawad's character I think he stood out more. Not taking away from his acting which pushed his character more. But I think that even though Fawad was awesome that Sid wasn't bad either. The person who was bad was alia gosh I dnt get why she was even there. As for Varun his character in dudwala as well as now Dishoom dnt do him any good. The sort of characters in this movies he should sleep through coz he would now knw to do it so well. Bt for some reason he isn't and I just dnt understand why. I think after badlapur he should have truly cemented his place as an actor and taken up diff roles that were more challenging. And I think coz he hasnt shown his versatility he is going to lose out eventually coz of that. He isn't a salman or an srk yet he cnt be thinking about only box office collections. Bt I agree about every word u said about him. That's why its frustrated watching him try and be a comedian. No offence to comedians bt they only tolerable for so long. VD is an actor he could become really great if he started taking some risks and doing diff types of roles and movies.
