Aamir hardly does movies, so for me nothing in last ten years is a while ago 😆
I am not discrediting, just comparing as OP is doing.
And I think Aamir did a very good job in PK, Talaash, Dhobi Ghat and in 3 idiots he was okay although the movie was itself cartoonish melo drama.
ShahRukh IMO when not haming or going OTT(sadly most part he is OTT) is class(like he was CDI, Swades)and Salman is simply put below average actor(although he has his own style which makes him the most over actor of today).

The mentioned movies may have been in similar genre(except Special26) but Akshay portray different roles in all.

Baby he waa a cold blooded no-nonsense special agent.

Special 26: a sly con man.

Holiday: a james bondish, cool military man with comic relief.

Airlift: a grey character who later embrace heroism.

thats like saying Salman is versatile cos he was a bodyguard in bodyguard and a RAW agent in ETT 😆. Point is they are of the same genre . Rustom looks the same too

I agree with with TM ...he is a versatile actor, he can do any kind of role , without worrying about box office he started doing good content movies

I am glad he does not run behind box office and opening records ... He along with Khans are not some newcomers who need to prove their stardom at this point , their career won't end if they will give a flop ... ( khans need to understand it )

Akshay is in the industry since past 25 years ... These are his recent movies only

Even if you find these movies same , but I am proud that these movies had CONTENT

Movies are of same genre i acknowledged that, but characters are different. None on of the roles had hint of similarity other than the patriotism factor.
