Akki is one of, if not the most underrated actor in Hindi cinema (alongside actors such as Emraan Hashmi and Irffan Khan).

Like you said, since the 2000s Akki has given some brilliant movies, although unfortunately his movies never make it to Awards nor does he himself, despite sheer brilliance in his acting.

Akki picks his movies very well. I remember him accusing Karan Johar during one his Coffee with Karan seasons, that big directors and producers such as KJo never gave Akki a chance. He has survived in this industry by doing movies with rather smaller companies over time, yet managed to make those movies big.

The recent two years of Akki have been absolutely amazing. I salute the movies he has done - they not only have a great content, but they allow him to showcase variations in his acting!

From Special 26 to Holiday to Baby and to Airlift, I have no complaints at all.

However, just so you know

1) Akshay does not only do action and comedy.

Look up Special 26, Holiday, Baby, Gabbar is Back, Brothers and Airlift (among others). Also his upcoming movie, Rustom.

The above are not comic, and that is the versatility the topic maker is referring to. If you watched these movies, perhaps you would know.

2) His comedy scenes are most definitely not cringe worthy.

Akshay is known to be the best comic actor in Bollywood (in comparison to other leading male actors of his age such as SRK, Hrithik, Aamir, Salman, Saif etc).

except special26 all are action movies .different yes but similar type movies .Rustom looks like another one in this category

i dont find him best comic actor .except Hera pheri where Paresh rawal rocked ,all his comedy movies suck .those singh bling ,housefuls etc. are unbearable

Just because Paresh Rawal stole the show doesn't mean akki or suniel didn't do good acting, it work with team effort, suniel akki were playing the hero comedian and Paresh Rawal the character comedian

SIB was a stupid movie at the least, I agree. But we need to look at his good works too not just bad. Everyone has flops, there's no star in Bollywood who hasn't seen flops and SIB is one of those.

Heyy Baby, Namstey London, Bhool Bhulaiyya, Singh is King - these are the kind of movies that I am talking about.

Akshay does multiple films a year and he Atleast ensures he gives 1 content driven offbeat movies, some work some may not always work, it's called experimenting, if one goes wrong then it's perhaps direction let it down. Brothers screenplay was good on paper but the director messed it up, same with ouatimd, but Atleast he's trying something different with each movie other than comedy or action he's churned before oh my god. This year he already has airlift, and rustom looks like a potential winner with critics and 1 massy comedy film, that's 2 different serious film in span on 6 months.

I think Akshay can do it all. He is the most versatile actor of our generation.

Just look his body of work and the different roles he has done!

He's been a villain (Ajnabee), He's been a dorky nerd (Action Replay), A police officer (Khakee), He's played Lord Krishna (OMG), Indian Captain (Holiday), Male Escort (Desi Boyz), Conman (Tees Mar Khan), Typical Bollywood hero (Rowdy Rathore, Typical romantic Bollywood Hero (Andaaz, Dhadkan, Namaste London etc), He's done family films (Waqt), A blind man (Ankhein), Police Officer (Mohra)...Business-man turned hero (Airlift)...Just look at all these roles! And these arent even ALL of his work! Just a glimpse!

Look at the diversity of his work. Who else has such a strong filmography?
