why don't we learn something from Oscars?

Ideally there really should only be 2 categories: Best Actor (or Actress) and Best Supporting Actor (or Actress). Now whether the actor or actress portrayed a negative role, comedian role, or any other role it doesn't matter. If you portrayed whatever role well, you will and should win. We don't need separate categories like best villain or best actor in a comic role etc. I've never understood that!

This is India. It's all about song and dance and melodrama and colour.

However, the Oscars can be seen as the National Awards, they don't have "popular" actor/actress category.

And the other awards like Stardust/SCreen can be seen as the MTV Movie Awards or Peoples Choice/Teen Choice Awards.

our greed for entertainment is ruining credibility

if we are all about dancing..colors and singing..why even do these awards then? lets call every one and do performances

and we are also one of those who watch oscars..look at the craze in our people for it..we can sit through awards like oscars..lets not underestimate our intelligence to only enjoying half naked girls dancing on stage and comedy acts in awards..we are way more than that

Lot of stars attend cos they get paid for their performances . If BW awards were like oscars , only those who will win would be attending 😆

No thank you , I like bw awards because they are full on entertainment . if there are no performances and drama then who would watch them .

Oscars are not as innocent as they are made out to be all the time, there is a lot of lobbying and behind the scene bending goes around. One Oscars are enough and we have national award to compete with them .

People are getting the TM wrong. Learning and copying has some difference. TBH, I don't like those dance performances, that should be kept at minimum if not deleted.

I like the dance performances.. I just wish the editing is done better.. The rest I don't mind

Oscars being a benchmark for our awards is something I have never got! Considering the amount of politics and lobbying that goes on behind the scenes in the Oscars, one would think folks out there would ponder before they claim it's the be all and end all when it comes to awards. Are they prestigious? Yeah! But anyone who has followed it closely would know how rampant the lobbying is.

As for the awards here, well I think the charm they had back in the 90s is kind of lost now as there are so many of them! We just need to fine tune things here and not copy the way Oscars are done. They have their own appeal just like the awards here have their own.

Bollywood doesn't have to copy Oscars. But an overhaul is needed. OP is right, Bollywood awards don't have a lot of credibility. Not even FilmFare. And performances are not even the issue. It's all the stories about how one gets the award (attend and preform). You watch the show and it looks kind of disorganized. The editing is horrible. And I think if they start airing it live it will get even more ratings for the TV channels.
