And this is the funniest thing I've heard šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜ƒ

It is the ENTERTAINMENT industry 😳

Also, did you miss last year's Oscars?...

I personally don't have an issue with nudity, if done tastefully depending on the situation. And of course let's not forget the saree itself is quite revealing. And I don't think that should be frowned upon.

The Academy Awards do have dance performances by the way, just google. Would post but so many, can't choose.

AND to all those that think the Oscars or "awards in the west" are not rigged are seriously mistaken. There have been all sorts of controversies over the years at all major award shows including the Grammys and The Brits.

Of course fine tuning is needed like I said. If you're going to have performances then have ones where people don't look like they're sleepwalking through them. Better editing is needed. Have them live like it was suggested here. Give folks awards even if they don't attend! But it's this cycle where some of these organizations that conduct them think if a star doesn't care enough to show up then why should they give it to them. Similar things happen in Hollywood too! The People Choice's or Teen Choice's awards usually only give it to those who care to show up even though they are based on audience votes! Even the Oscars, the folks who care to lobby usually have a better shot at winning too.

^ The last bit was true. There was that entire controversy about JLaw & Harvey Weinstein & how she "f**ked for her Oscar." Am forgetting her name but that crazily frank actress & comedienne, Joan Rivers, Jane Fonda? One of them also revealed that she "f**ked for her Oscar".. In recent times there have been strong whispers about how Alicia Vikander is Weinstein (who is one of HW's most powerful & influential producers) Girl Of The Month.

But the major difference that makes all the difference is that usually, even if they're rigged, the winners deserve their awards. The only one I remember that most people were totally shocked she won, was Lady Gaga for AHS at the GGs when Leo made that TOTALLY AWFUL grimace-like laugh when her name was announced, and she "accidentally" bumped into him on her way to the stage 🤣 And the cameras caught everything!!! 🤣 🤣

Which is why no-one was surprised & most infact were rooting, for JLaw & Vikander because they totally deserved their awards & are excellent actresses, Vikander In particular. In India the awards are bought like candy & are seldom given to the most deserving candidate!!!

These days people don't care about the awards really. Earlier they had this novelty factor mostly because people could see so many stars under one roof. So much glamour and all that jazz. I don't think awards were ever watched for 'Awards' per se. It was mostly for the celeb appearances/jokes/performances etc..Indian audience in general don't care much about the awards, except if you end up winning loads of them like SRK, that is when people mention them. šŸ˜†

Guess that's the reason Rekha_ji is against Bollywood awards aping the Oscars.

Anyone remembers the golden jubilee year of Filmfare Awards? I think that was quite close to what a perfect Bollywood award function should be. Beautiful performances, hilarious gags and deserving winners. Not to forget, it used to be telecast live so none of these horrendous editing tactics were there.
All went downhill when filmfare shifted to yrf. studios.

I would beg to differ that Indian audience don't care about awards. All you have to do is look at the threads here and it'll give you a glimpse if people do or not especially when their favorites are nominated! The same folks who talk about how these award shows are rigged will have no issues talking about how fair they're when their favorites win. Even the stars who claim they're rigged, they don't matter to them ,will happily show up to collect an award or perform at these events. At least be consistent in your stance..lol! Then there are those who will look down on the awards here but have no qualms in showing up to the Oscars :P

Wasn't that in of itself a huge conflict of interest considering so many yrf films or actors were always up for awards? I'm curious to know if the media or anyone ever commented on this.

Oscars are not controversy free by any means. There is a lot of campaigning going on during award season in Hollywood. At least Jennifer Lawrence is a great actress. I'm still not sure the likes of Helen Hunt and Gwyneth Paltrow deserved their wins especially opposite people like Judi Dench and Cate Blanchett.

Also to be noted, Weinstein gets mocked for his favoritism and use of his power for his girls, sometimes at the award ceremony itself. I can't imagine Kapil mocking any Bollywood bigwigs that boldly, or at all.

At the end despite not being perfect Oscars, and Golden Globes and critics' awards are very respected in Hollywood. FilmFare needs to work on gaining credibility.
