I agree with the rest of your post .. An oscar doesn't define greatness of a star , Cruise , depp and smith doesn't have one and still are biggest stars of the planet ..

I slightly disagree with the naseeruddin shah and Leo comparison , Leo does have star power , yes not like how Tom cruise has but Leo has his own domestic market while naseeruddin shah and bajpayee doesn't have ...

Hollywood and hollywood stars would always be bigger than bollywood stars

There's a difference between HW and BW movie stars. Here in the subcontinent when we love someone/something we love them with passion. We follow it like religion/ place the person next to god. I still remember the day when Bangladesh lost in Asia cup final against Pakistan. The whole nation mourned. When we love something or someone nothing comes between us. That's not the case in western world. Leo or Tom are well known around the world but they don't have a dedicated fan base like SRK/Salman khan. There's none who place them next to god. It's like comparing Messi/Ronaldo with Sachin. Messi/Ronaldo r more popular and widely known than Sachin but Sachin is god to his fans. Messi is charged with tax fraud but noone protested just imagine what would've happened if something like that happened with sachin. Same applies for star like SRK/Salman. There're fans who r ready to do anything for their fav superstar. That doesn't apply for western superstars. ppl there r more practical and less emotional.
