I sometimes think just because a statement is coming from her, it'll by default be labelled as outrageous for the most part...lol! There are so many out there who have said they are director's actors. She is saying exactly the same thing here. I don't think the intention there is to disrespect anyone as much it's to give credit to all those directors who have trusted her even when most in the industry didn't. This ain't the first time she has said something on these lines. She talked about Anand Rai having faith in her and approaching her for Raanjhanna when probably many in his position wouldn't have. Same goes for Ram I guess even though I haven't seen Neerja yet. A lot of people out there questioned as to why Sonam was being cast as Neerja. Hell some of the critics have said so in their reviews for Neerja and how pleasantly surprised they're by her performance. I fail to understand as to how an innocuous statement like this could be twisted to this degree. Stating you're a director's actor doesn't mean you aren't talented. It just means you're better in the hands of someone who will challenge you to explore your potential even more , will push you to give a better take instead of someone who's probably okay with a "good enough" take.
