And no, HAHK doesn't rule internet, it's DDLJ which rules internet because many young people use it.

Talking about real life, HAHK is far more popular film than DDLJ. It's songs & dances are way more iconic. HAHK is loved by the people of all age group while DDLJ is generally loved by only youngsters.

There is a reason why it gets telecast many times more than than DDLJ on TV.

You hear more about DDLJ because young people talks about it while the people who love HAHK would not be talking about films.

And one more point, Can anyone ignore the EXTRA efforts made by YRF to make it look more iconic and bigger hit. Everyone knows that the film isn't running that well in Maratha Mandir but YRF is still trying to force it.

Family dramas had more audience during that era so HAHK had to earn more than DDLJ so what's the fuss about?

According to me today's audience would opt for DDLJ over HAHK so that's how DDLJ has dominated HAHK.

HAHK from start to end is remembered by all even that dog's name is still popular. That was one of an iconic movie. Prem-Nisha truimphed over Srk-Kajol at that time. As said by someone that DDLJ is mostly popular on Internet whereas HAHK is popular among all. Zee Cinema which airs HAHK still airs promos of that filam like an new filam coming first time on TV.

DDLJ was more a youth film when it was released (that's why, more spoke about in Internet). HAHK was a family movie. Half of those who watched are probably not into Internet. All I know is, elders in my family who had stayed away from movies after HemaMalini/Rekha for more than a decade, went to watch this movie. Cannot say the same thing for DDLJ. DDLJ was refreshing. But it did not draw audience of all age.

ddlj is more relatable to the current generation. there are many films post ddlj which had the same theme but no filmmaker has been able to revise concept of hahk not even bharjatiya himself

HAHK is a better entertaining movie...Can watch it any number of times without getting bored...DDLJ tends to get boring after a few times...

DDLJ target audience were youngsters whereas HAHK was towards family audience. Also DDLJ had that NRI story going, Most of these youngsters are on internet hence DDLJ has more publicity. Also YRF has big hand in keeping that movie in limelight by keep on running it in maratha Mandir.

HAHK was truly iconic. HAHK brought back families to the theater. That era was dominated by VHS. and action movies or double meaning comedy movies. HAHK was a true family drama in a long long time.HAHK was responsible for all saas-bahu serials on TV😆..

Rajshri released HAHK in only one theater in Mumbai (Liberty) for 4-5 weeks. We are crying on IF dilwale got only 3000 screens but HAHK had only 1 screen in Mumbai. Rajshri used to check if theater is fit for family audience and then they used to release the movie there.

Unbelievable marketing for the movie...as a kid i still remember lighting on the screen going on for each songs...ambulance outside theaters...some people used to faint when Renuka Shahne fell down from stairs in the movie...Long queues for advance booking for almost a year even after the release...it was crazy...

I have not seen such craze for any movie till now...I have heard some crazy stories about Sholay and jai Santoshi Maa from my parents but i think HAHK tops all of them.

The last show of the iconic film, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, was supposed to be on February 19 but the Maratha Mandir management was flooded with requests to reinstate the movie based on which they decided to reconsider their decision.
