The film, directed by Sriram Raghavan, is scheduled for release on January 1, 2026. After watching the film, Amitabh Bachchan shared his heartfelt review, praising Agastya's performance for its maturity and unfiltered honesty. He expressed being deeply moved, stating he couldn't take his eyes off Agastya on screen and got emotional with tears of joy and pride when the film ended.

Amitabh Bachchan shared a heartfelt blog post about Agastya Nanda's film 'Ikkis', recalling his grandson's journey from birth to pursuing his acting dreams. He praised Agastya's performance, highlighting his maturity and unfiltered honesty. "Emotions flow ..As do they tonight when you witness the grandson excel in IKKIS.. the time when his Mother, Shweta is being rushed to Breach Candy Hospital as she encounters final labour pains .. his birth . holding him barely a few hours later, and discussing whether his eyes were blue.. to the time when he grew a bit and holding him in my arms, and he fiddles with my beard .. to his growth .. to the final personal decision of his to be an actor, and tonight to see him in frame, unable to take my eyes off each time he fills the frames of the film," wrote Amitabh Bachchan.
Amitabh Bachchan praised Agastya's performance in 'Ikkis', saying it was perfectly balanced and never excessive. He emphasized his review was from a cinematic perspective, not just a proud grandfather's view. "His maturity, his unfiltered honesty in his performance, his presence justifying the character he portrays. nothing frith or froth, just the Arun Khetarpal soldier, who fought in his bravery as the 21 year old, defending the nation during the India -Pak war of 1971 .. nothing excessive, just the perfection in every shot.. when he is in the frame you only watch him.. and this is not a grandfather speaking, this is a hardened viewer of cinema..." he wrote.
Amitabh gives a shout out to writer and director
Amitabh Bachchan didn't just stop at praising his grandson; he also gave a shout-out to the film's writing and direction, which was helmed by Sriram Raghavan. "And the film flawless in its presentation . its writing .. its Direction And when it ends.. the eyes filled with tears of joy and pride.. unable to speak out ..In silence ..The silence that belongs to me.. my understanding. no other .Love," added Big B.
About Ikkis
Agastya Nanda's role in 'Ikkis' is inspired by Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India's youngest Param Vir Chakra recipient. Agastya has mentioned studying war films, including his grandfather's 'Major Saab', to prepare for the role. The film also features Dharmendra in his last on-screen appearance and Jaideep Ahlawat.
Ikkis is shaping up to be a powerful film, telling the story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal and his bravery during the 1971 India-Pakistan War. The film, directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Dinesh Vijan, marks the age at which Arun Khetarpal attained martyrdom. It features a stellar cast, including Agastya Nanda, Dharmendra, and Jaideep Ahlawat, and is slated for a New Year 2026 release.
