I want to know since when 1995 era had internet and phones...i was 8 yrs old then...was there internet during 1995...as per my knowledge...there was no internet at that time...

debate logically...HAHK came in 1994 and DDLJ came in 1995...where does internet fits in when in 90s...there was no internet at all...no phones...no social media websites...

I am shock people claiming here that DDLJ became popular due to internet...

both the films were a rage during that era due to its genres...chemistry b/w the leads...songs...family and youth feel...there was something in HAHK and DDLJ that people got connected and made prem-nisha and raj-simran part of their lives...why debate on it when that era was different...both the films are now airing in various channel...just enjoy it and move on...

there was something special in HAHK and prem-nisha...the film was so huge those days...an iconic film

there was something special in DDLJ and raj-simran...the film was a huge success and running for 20 yrs...

i don't feel bore watching both the films...

HAHK was truly iconic. HAHK brought back families to the theater. That era was dominated by VHS. and action movies or double meaning comedy movies. HAHK was a true family drama in a long long time.HAHK was responsible for all saas-bahu serials on TV😆..

Rajshri released HAHK in only one theater in Mumbai (Liberty) for 4-5 weeks. We are crying on IF dilwale got only 3000 screens but HAHK had only 1 screen in Mumbai. Rajshri used to check if theater is fit for family audience and then they used to release the movie there.

Unbelievable marketing for the movie...as a kid i still remember lighting on the screen going on for each songs...ambulance outside theaters...some people used to faint when Renuka Shahne fell down from stairs in the movie...Long queues for advance booking for almost a year even after the release...it was crazy...

I have not seen such craze for any movie till now...I have heard some crazy stories about Sholay and jai Santoshi Maa from my parents but i think HAHK tops all of them.

+1

Very Well said, BOI has also said the same thing, here talking about 1990-1994 Decade: -

This decade has been split into two parts. Section one is after Hum Aapke Hain Kaun and section two before Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. The release of Hum Aapke Hain Kaun was a defining moment in the box office history of Hindi cinema. Hum Aapke Hain was a limited release on hand picked theatres by the makers of the film and prints were only given if theatres were upgraded to a certain level. Due to unparalleled demand for the film after its release, exhibitors upgraded their theatres to get prints of the film. This resulted in ticket prices going up heavily and the family audience which rarely ventured into cinema halls at the time due to sub standard theatres came back in full force and not only did Hum Aapke Hain Kaun smash all records but took business for films released afterwards to another level. To put into perspective how business changed after Hum Aapke Hain Kaun is that before Hum Aapke Hain Kaun an all India share of 10 crore for a big film was regarded as blockbuster business but after Hum Aapke Hain Kaun the blockbuster business figure went to 20 crore.

=)) ROFL @ THREAD made on DDLJ having more impact =)) 😆

Don't care what anyone says... While I really really liked HAHK, but it cannot compete with my love for DDLJ! Sure HAHK was a huge hit at that time and ofcourse the credit goes to MAdz, Sallu and Barjatiyas... but a movie that has been going on the screens since 1995 has to have something great about it! It was a simple love story which touched hearts of millions! And it still continues to do! I wait for the day when I will get to watch DDLJ on the big screen!

i think the two movies should nt be compared..

HAHK is loved by married ppl n senior ppl
kind of mature romance ..so they can bear that
shaadi n rasam drama n sit through it patiently..

while ddlj has a touch of home sickness of NRI
+ young at heart romance..how to nt run away
from home bt convince the parents..so may be
this is why it has relevant dominance even now
as its ageless type romance..

another new thing introduced by DDLJ was perhaps that
they showed father son as a friend n mother daughter as
best friend the concept of parents being ur friends is
luring enough for us where as HAHK clearly showed
respect ur elders wishes n say yes to their yes n no
to their no so basically fear n respect ur parents n hide
ur feelings from them..sacrifice ur personal happiness
types..bt ddlj showed if parents are friends then
life is a gift n blessing 😳

And Dilwale can never be compared with DDLJ for obvious reasons.

It ain't like Sallu's movies..every movie is a sequel to Dabangg!!
