Look at ARR...you wouldn't even be able to tell he's the creator of the song. lol He's just standing there with a humbled face.

LOL yeah, that was some very weird choreography...but that song is so good! The music of this film is timeless. I still hear it every now and then and it never gets old.

I watched the film when I was younger then watched it twice or so again in recent times. I do think it was somewhat ahead of its time.

Haha...I think Satrangi Re is probably the most difficult song to understand in this movie.

But I think Farah did a pretty good job choreographing that song and getting the gist of it...the 7 stages of love...you can see the progression of his love from attraction to their union to madness..and finally death.

This is the scene right before Chaiyya Chaiyya if anyone wants to see it again:

AR Rehman is amazing. I don't think anything will ever come close to Dil Se's album. It's timeless. The hardwork he put into this album truly shows. I love how even if the film didn't do well, the music never went unnoticed. In fact, till this day we're talking about it. How many times do you see that happen with a film that didn't do well? especially a film from 2 decades ago.

Speaking of AR Rehman..I initially didn't like Tamasha's music album. Even while I watched the film, I didn't quite enjoy a lot of the songs as much as I had hoped..but after watching the film, I decided to hear the album again..and then again..and now, I love the album. I think that's more so the case with ARR now? because earlier, his songs would instantly connect with you.

Actually ARR created some of his best music in the 90s..Its actually kinda ironic he got Oscars for Slumdog when in reality, its not half good as a Roja or Dil Se..ARR was crazy good in the 90s..Roja, Bombay, Dil Se, Rangeela, Taal, not to forget his albums down South- each one of these albums can beat almost every music director's best work 😆 I actually love Dil Se Re and Ae Ajnabee as much as Chaiyya Chaiyya..The chorus of Dil Se Re and the way its shot- its magic..

Those bits from 0:44- 1:05 make me skip a heartbeat till date 😆😆

Re: Tamasha, i agree..A lot of his albums have that quality these days..They don instantly connect with you..I remember disliking the album of Rockstar too..And then i fell in love with it and think its sheer genius 😆 Ditto with Guru..I think the only album where i was truly disappointed was JTHJ..Cos none of the songs have grown on me till date..Apart from the bgm in the 'aankhon ki namkeen mastiyan' bit which is partly saved by SRK's voice 😆

Jiya Jale was kind of weird with its choreography too? It was a little too intimate of SRK...especially seeing it as a kid. 😆 With Satrangi, I just came in terms with the video being something really abstract, beyond our understanding...😆 I feel every song of Dil Se is a story of its own. The lyrics and choreography are all unique.

Satrangi and Ae Ajnabi have a haunting feel by the way. I love, love Ae Ajnabi. I feel Manisha really worked in this film, you can kind of see it in the song as well. She portrayed the mysterious side to her character really well and you can see it in these two songs particularly.

I know what you mean! 😆 This role required someone charming since the character is as such..and SRK was perfect for it. I found him incredibly charming throughout the entire film actually. 😆

JTHJ was HORRIBLE. I can't get myself to like a single song from that album. Since we're speaking about SRK's amazing energy in Chaiyya Chaiyya. It doesn't always work in the song's favor..for instance, Anushka's energy when performing Jiya Re was rather over the top and annoying.

I agree about Rockstar as well. It took me time, but I love all the songs from that film now.

Agree with everything you said. The song is stunning visually! I love watching the song..just as much as I love hearing the audio. Sukwinder is definitely magical. He has a powerful voice, and I feel sometimes it's hard for actors to lipsync to his voice in a believable manner. There's something lacking...but SRK nailed it. AR Rehman is at another level in this movie. I love every song from the film..but, if I absolutely HAD to choose, then I'd probably go with Chaiyya Chaiyya because it's such a fun song to watch and listen.

Oh yeahh! You put it quite aptly. Malaika's grace and sex appeal complements SRK's boyish charm. They have great chemistry. They're so spontaneous together. The rustic and rawness to the song makes it work even more. That's where I feel SRK only adds to the song's appeal. There's nothing fancy about his appearance...normal attire, no heavy makeup, sloppy hair - which by the way tremendously helped his dance 😆 SRK got everything right here..his energy in particular was above and beyond. You kind of can't help but smile while watching him.

Haha I love each and every song of this movie...I don't think I can choose honestly..it changes every time. 😆 I also love the use of natural light in this song..or even the bits where the smoke of the train is in the background and SRK is in front of it..and the green trees...the mountains.

Oh but SRK always looks best in his simplest stuff...that smile, hair, and twinkle in his eyes does the trick. 😆 Like the one part of DDLJ that really makes my heart flutter is SRK in that black sweatshirt in Hogaya hai tujhko toh pyar sajna...when he holds Kajol's hand and turns around and sings.

I think Roger put it best here...this is one of those songs that everyone immediately understands why they worked. ARR of 90's really was something else..ironic that some of his best songs have come in super flop films but it's a testimony to his immense talent that people still speak of those songs.
