All the famous kings had multiple wives- Ashoka, Akbar and even Shivaji had many wives. It was a normal thing that period. Kings married for matrimonial alliances as there was a less stability and security during that period. Everybody wanted their blood to continue in their empire.
Even in religious scriptures polygamy is present so its a no big deal. Culture and morality change according to time. Whats moral today could be immoral 50 years later.

Some of you saying Bajirao made both of them pregnant same time he also disliked kashi after misunderstanding but still continued to make her pregnant ?kya kya log hote the uss zamane mein. I think he treated the 2 women like sex machines more than anything. Mastani had money and skills a princess with talents she was too good for Bajirao all she got bad treatment. Kashi always got a raw deal he took her for granted she was a very innocent vulnerable woman. Moral and immoral bhool jao but if you think as ppl watching this movie i see ppl relating and rooting Kashi not the main hero and heroine who were problmatic with no sympathy quality .

Kashi was a smart Peshwa woman. She used to take care of the entire fort where she used to live. Its difficult to take care of singe domestic budget and she has to handle everything around her. She was a Peshwa wife and it was an accepted practice for a king or a military leader to have many women for evening pleasures. She might had accepted this but when she saw her husband got attracted to a much smarter and multi talented woman she saw her power over her husband breaking away. She already suffered from arthirtis and middle age by that time. Before anyone jumps to conclusion I am taking about a time when it was common to have a pre puberty wedding and marriage was consumated after first mensurational cycle. Kashi was an quintessential housewife for a Peshwa leader who trusted her decisions in the family. She was clever enough to keep Mastani out of the family home and Mastani kid was never accepted before his parents death.mastani son lived his life as a Muslim warrior not a Maratha Brahmin. This was the ultimate revenge by Kashi. So she did not get a raw deal as her son balaji suceeded his father. Becoming the kings mother was the ultimate sucess which Kashi wanted.

I have studied history in graduation so I do know about Maratha polity.

Let's watch the movie first. They might be a lot of details missing. And as far as I know, there are multiple origin stories of mastani so we aren't sure which one SLB has adapted.
I personally liked Mastani originally in the 1st look back in Aug and found her fierce. But post-trailer I really like how PC has treated Kashi. I really want to see the motivation of each character. They can all be flawed--which makes the story for relatable for modern audiences.

Key word here is cultural relativism. Polygamy was a fact of life back then. For that day and age, their life style was well within the societal norms. Now of course, it's immoral. Then again, there are cultures till this day where cousin marriages are a norm, where open marriages, polygamy and even polyandry is a common phenomenon. Who's to say what's immoral. If it works for them, more power to them.

After going through all pages, all I could say is...

Some people really need some history knowledge before jumping their guns.

Discussion is one thing but passing sweeping statements about historical figures without much knowledge --- All that is LOL according to me. First go and educate yourself. Or ask a question before coming to conclusions. 😛

People really do not care for history or even geography now-days. I remember once someone thought that Meghalaya is located near beaches. This person was actually pointing at Kerala that time. So do not have high hopes.
