I'm not talking about Bajirao-Mastani individually, it's the whole story, which we never really know are facts or made-up, is what I'm talking about. Debate would be the better word to use here.. it's unfair to blame them for what they did, but it's perfectly fine to judge them, especially when you look from today's point of view. Bajirao-Mastani is a movie, which is being made in 2015, in today's world; I think if a person wants to judge them on that basis, it's perfectly fine.. they were living in olden days, we are not. It all comes down to personal views really; I consider polygamy to be immoral thus I would obviously judge them flaunting their love in front of the wife who was already there.. but would I blame them for what they did? No.

On topic, I think Mastani was not accepted because she was half Muslim.

I dont want to tax my brain too much with the historical tidbits. The only character I liked is Kashi's.

Epic and eternal love story of Bajirao and Mastani jaaye tel lene. Bajirao produced kids with Kashi after marrying Mastani. He made both of them pregnant around the same time. 😆

I am going to watch it for SLB, grandeur and Kashi. Btw the songs should have been better. I expected better music from a SLB film.

Not directly related to the original post, but historically how many wives did these kings have? Somone posted 19...was that like an average number for most kings...or was it too low ?? 😆😆

I don't think there was any average. When the Kings defeated/killed someone, they kept the wives. Some old kings used to offer their daughters as prize with kingdom and jewels. Akbar had some 30+ wives and 1000+ in his harem. Only few smart/beautiful wives got importance and helped to make decisions. Their sons succeeded the King.

Kings practiced polygamy.

!mughal kings had many I think. So did Rana ji n pratap. Even Shivaji.

Rau being a general, it was scandalous especially since she was half Muslim n loved dancing which was not taken nicely.

the only way bajirao + mastani won't come off callously, imo, is if he treats her as an obligation at first but then the manipulation from his family forces him to defend mastani and thus treat her preferentially. i don't think that's happening in the movie though. SLB talked about how he's fascinated by one person's strife in grappling that the person you love loves someone else.
