I was watching the new promos on TV my mom casually asked the story I told her she snapped what type of kahani is this. Hero aur heroine dono dhokebaaz immoral characters hai isko kyon encourage karte hai movies mein i had to tell her this happened in history lol its not made up by SLB khud se. But she does have valid point the main hero the main heroine are immoral and dumb to get sympathy. Not just PC powerful portrayal but even the character of Kashi is so loveable.

Bajirao can be a brave fighter aur baki sab kuch but as a person he was character dheela person. he was not forcfully married to Kashi bai it was not a loveless marriage it was a happy romantic marriage we saw in trailer and song he is fulltoo romancing Kashi there are more romance shown by SLB Bajirao and Kashi. He did everything he did with Mastani with her and even had three or four kids with Kashi. Kashi is not at fault if Bajirao falls for a supposedly hotter girl after many years of marriage and we are supposed to like the home breaking selfish couple of Bajirao and Mastani? Less said better for Mastani. She was daughter of a king she had money, talent, she was skillful fighter and poet she had everything going for her still ghum phirke she became a doormat second wife of a married and father of 3 kids Bajirao yeh kya vahiyatpanti hai ROFL. The only one who is sane and whose character looks interesting worth rooting for is one and only Kashi bai. I hope SLB when he shows Bajirao and Mastani crying or dying ppl saying accha hua tapak gaye give us Kashi show us Kashi hope she moves on. Main toh samaj nahi rahi why would anyone leave Kashi? dont give me BS of attractive unattractive PC is looking more attractive than DP. DP is not even looking her best in looks in BM.

Polygamy was a normal trend back in the day. Don't see what's immoral. Sure, SLB has amplified the love angle of Bajirao and Mastani, whilst introducing his own interpretation of love. But that's cinema. It happens all the time.

They were real people, and all real people hav drama and complications within the family system, it even happens today where husbands get a second wife. But in those times it was quite normal to hav mor than one wife, so it wudnt hav been seen as immoral
The movie shows complicated relationships between all characters, between Bajirao and kashi, kashi and mastani, mastani and Bajiraos family

Its cinema and it was in history this type of things happened but in todays time how can we have any sympathy and likeness for immoral characters watching it?This is releasing in this century we are going to watch it in multiplex AC halls with friends with modern thinking we cant be having any sympathy for the hero and heroine aur masses ke dimag ke upar se jayega. How many ppl going to think again and again it happened century ago while movie viewing time. Sympathy quality is completely missing in both main roles. i am excited to see acting of the actors but in character only Kashi is rootable.

I am not aware of historical accuracies but read somewhere that Mastani was a princess who got married off to Bajirao by her father after Bajirao helped the king win a battle. Unfortunately in earlier times it was acceptable for kings and likes to have multiple wives.

SLB may have taken creative liberties and tweaked a bit to show love story between Rao-Mastani and yes it may appear immoral in modern times. Kashibai with innocent, endearing personality may win hearts and show Rao-Mastani in poor light.

SLB's version is not the real story it's based on a famous novel. In real(what is believed) Kashibai had a limp in her leg too.Mastani was given to Bajirao as a gift.

I agree with you, but here's a trick Hollywood uses: they usually remove the negative, unlikeable parts from biopics and historical movies and only include the parts that illustrate their strength of character.

Maybe SLB has done the same?

Biopics are rarely cent percent true. As you said, people find it difficult to relate to people when they have equal dosages of good and bad, which is why they emphasize on the good, while minimizing the bad aspects.

But we have to accept history as it is. Today's sensibilities are different. Likewise, yesteryears' perception of good and bad was different too. Back in those days, child marriages, polygamy, etc., were normal. Today, it isn't. So, you just have to keep that in mind.

Morality is a relative concept and you can't use today's ideals to judge the past. Look at wars. Even 50 years ago, war was the first thing on everyone's mind. These days, it's the last thing on a government's mind. Times change.

I agree with your mom Dhartiamber.

I hope SLB deals with Kashibai's pain sensitively. Otherwise Mastani will come out as negative and Bajirao as immoral.
