I can kind of understand why PC is slammed for "Americanizing" her English when she's in India but I am completely confused about why anyone would be slamming her for doing her best to sound like an American while filming when she is playing an American on American TV no less. English, Irish, Australian actors,etc use American accents for American parts and Americans use different accents (good lord Meryl Streep built a career on amazing foreign accents) and no one cares as long as they sound pretty close. I don't get why anyone cares. And as a native American English speaker I think her accent is really quite good. I only occasionally hear an Indian accent and maybe only then because I'm actively listening for it.

as far Quantico - I thought PC was pretty good but the show was pretty standard TV and could go either way in the ratings. Fingers crossed for PC and the others involved.

I just don't want it to be the twins. I'll be really pissed off if they are. They are the best thing about the show. 😆 I like the blonde too. Good female cast.

Now since all my excitement has worn off, I feel they could work on fixing the editing of the show though. It's a bit messy.

Uhhh that is because in this culture it would constitute as racism. White people are very careful in critiquing brown or black people.

If critics found her accent unbelievable they would have no trouble saying it. They won't comment negatively on her appearance the way Indians endlessly discuss skin tone (at least in print) but pointing out bad accents is not racist. In fact I would expect the politically correct crowd to make it a talking point. If her accent were bad they would criticize it and say diversity is awesome but why not have cast an actual Indian American actress who would be more believable (Mindy Kaling isn't the only one we have 😊). I have heard similar complaints about not casting "real" Hispanic Americans for example.

Every English speaking country has their own accent even if not all English speakers can identify them. Americans can tell the difference between someone raised in Minnesota and someone raised in Louisiana very easily. PC is attempting a standard Midwestern American accent (the kind they teach network broadcasters to use if they don't already have it.) They are not criticizing her accent because in the scheme of the show it's not a problem. They are criticizing the show's lack of originality which may or may not be a problem. Yes we've seen it all before but there is a reason "formulas" work and it may work this time.

PS the abrupt editing is intentional. It's meant to force focus and leave the viewer feeling unsettled. You may not like it but it's an artistic choice not an accident LOL.

To be honest, I've never really had any liking for Priyanka but I have to say that she is really taking leaps in her career and it's fun to see an indian (Mindy Kaling also) on screen without those usual heay-indian-accent-imitations which makes people take the actors less seriously.

Does the accent bother me? I got over it. I liked the first episode and all the characters - looking forward to watching the rest.
