I think the best alternative would be to charge a basic fee initially, and then a certain percentage in profit share. So this ensures that everyone benefits, as if the movie has earned profits, a certain profit share would not harm the producers as opposed to paying such high fixed fees which the producers would anyways have to pay whether the movie is a hit or flop! Since top stars would like to tap on the profits their movies make due to "star power" (which is fair enough), profit share is a less risky proposal as the stars would also benefit from the extra profits the movie makes because of them. So in this way also your taking advantage of the extra profits your movies make due to your star power, less the risk of financial losses to your producers incase it flops.
And the movies would also easily be declared as successes at box office due to lower budgets, which will benefit everyone including these stars whose popularity and demand is determined by their movies' box office performance.
