For some people (here & elsewhere) it obviously is all about money when looking at a person's work.
In no way I would agree in the very negative takes from Haila_tu and lirawod on Saif as an actor. I really dislike the focus on the financial outcome ('at least a hit') neglecting completely the (sometimes) praised performances given also in (financially) unsuccessful movies.
There is nothing to hold against the pairing Akshay-Saif beforehand as the two of their pairings I've watched were quite enjoyable (and even successful). So, I prefer to 'wait and see'. As for Saif, to me, he has largely proved his mettle also as a solo leading actor
What are you blabbering about, this time around?
Nobody is denying Saif's acting chops/versatility. Abhishek too is a fine actor.
The point was that's whose bankrolling this expensive film considering Saif cannot even guarantee a minimal return at the ticket counters. Movie Making is a Business at the end of the day. Akshay has a cameo and they barely have any scenes together in the original. There's no "Pairing" here.

In that we should also ask why are Rajkumar and Sid still getting films? more than 90% of their films has been flops.
and what about Akki? he has like 10 disasters in last five years.

Akshay is a completely different league. He's had single years with more solo Hits than Saifs career. Just this year, he's had 3 decent Successes in Kesari 2, HF5 & Sky Force.
You do realize that Saif only has 5 small Hits as a lead right? Hum Tum, Race 1(2 Hero but will give it to him), Salaam Namaste, Cocktail & Love Aaj Kal and 0 Super Hits +. Never even crossed a 100 Cr.
Even Abhishek has Superhits like Bunty aur Bubbly, Guru and he's done half the number of films as Saif.
Rao has an ATBB in Stree. He's set for a while. Sid has a much better success rate than Saif too. He hasn't done enough films to be written off.
Saif has the worst success rate in Bollywood. Versatile actor but nobody buys tickets to see him. So I'm not sure what you guys are arguing about? It's strange to see a producer putting money into a Saif film.
