Having a clean record, not having to cover up crimes or make rounds of police stations and courts, having enough money, some bit of recognition and stable family and kids are much better than just looks, popularity (and notoriety) across the world and loads of money but forever making rounds of courts, police stations and sending legal notices to even blogs to save oneself.

Career wise may be Vivek didn't do well , may be not that rich as Salman but He must be in much better state of mind ( happiness/less stress) than Salman.

One is known for having volatile (putting it mildly) relationships with his girlfriends, dragging court cases that should have been open and shut for years, and basically being a very shrewd publicist's image make over creation.

The other one is an opportunistic weasel who only apologized for his news conference when the media made it difficult for him to pretend that he was still dating his ex, and then blamed everything on the said ex.

Both of them irk me for different reasons. But in the grand scheme of humanity, being a weasel is a much better option than the other. Just don't claim that your performance in Krissh3 was better than Heath Ledger's in Batman.
