Not really..You can make a mark in simple romcoms too..Ranbir's breakthrough performance was in WUS which was a Dharma production..Its still one of his best performances IMO..So its not like Dharma always produces trash..Infact, KJo is million times a better mentor than Adi Chopra..Look what Karan has done to Alia & what Adi did to Pari whose debut performance was infinite times better than that of Alia..So i get why they don wanna let go of KJo but yeah, they should look for other options too simply because KJo is not that reliable in the long run IMO 😆

Look at what happened to Abhay Deol the messiah of indie cinema. The same directors whom he supported then have turned their backs on him and moved on to more popular people.

another thing- i also don't feel Sid is cut for romcom, he has brooding gud looks better suited for serious or glamorous movies...

Regarding WUS, i don't see anytime soon Sid getting ayan mukherjee movie...this is where aquablue complaints seem valid that he doesnt get gud directors or scripts in dharma.

In any case, sid has to look out to other prod houses if he wants to develop further...otherwise he will stagnate IMO.

Varun excels in movies like HSKD n he will keep excelling but he took a break n suddenly did badlapur..he was not great but got a lot of admiration... Sid doesn't have strength on movies like HSKD... ek villain was a hit... u have to consider what plays to the strength of the actor... Sid can do really well in non-dharma kinda movies...

My point is if you are hoping a movie like YJHD will come to Sid from dharma and he will be superstar due to that, very slim chances😊. KJo is not giving movies wisely to sid...if he really was keen to improve sid's career, he should have provided shuddi to Sid

Ranveer did Gunday because it was his childhood wish to do a movie like sholay based in 70s. he fulfilled his dream.
Ranveer did Killdil because it had Govinda (his lifetime fav), shaad Ali (his real connection to bollywood). He has done them not because Adi suggested him to do it.

yes, antagonizing is not what i suggest.. but he needs to have some bones and say to KJo, ''this movie doesn't play to my strengths, i dn't wanna do it''
i have a feeling KJo is bit controlling compared to adi... adi wants you to do what u want n how u want, kjo wants his students to do it his way...

He has just started out though..I don see anything wrong with him going for commercial films-- this is complacency, he has to break out at some point soon.
Sid wont get a big director immediately but he has to do non-dharma movie with a good enough director so that other non-dharma directors can see he is willing to take new roles... there is no reason why sid cannot do badlapur...but if he remains busy with movies like kapoors n sons😆, it will use up his time..

i m not a sid fan as i havent watched his movie yet but i can see he will lag behind Varun if he doesn't do something new, build links outside dharma, challenge himself.
