I think actors make mistake when they touch remakes of recent decade films. Make movies on much older decades, then few notice or compare. Not many have watched old Devdas or Saraswatichandra so SLB and his band of actors get away with anything. But stuff like Khubsoorat is on TV every other day and is watched a lot because it is a clean family film. Copying a film like this is like inviting bashing already especially if they cast someone like Sonam Kapoor and not even a talented name.
Original's essence is bonding between friends and family captured so beautifully by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Those people looked like real family!
If the fancy candyfloss posters are anything to go by then I feel this one will lack the simplicity and natural feel of older one.
I have heard that even those who rated Rekha low as an actor had appreciated her in Khubsoorat. This was the impact she made.
I highly doubt if Sonam can win over everyone, including critics with her version.
The male has rather minimal role in this so Fawad has only few scenes where he can get opportunity to make an impact unless they tweaked the story. Rakesh Roshan was a typical "jee pitaji", "jee mummy", "jee bhaiya" kind of guy in it! Few scenes where he was on his own and not dominated even by younger siblings. There is not much meat for an actor in it. It was a women's film. In original, Ashok Kumar had better role and more scenes than Rakesh Roshan. The only male who made an impact besides the women.
