She was no way mediocre.

Sonam types cannot even match toenail of Rekha that too in a classic like Khubsoorat.

Very well said atominis 👏

Sonam can act as much required to? - you mean she WON'T act at all? 😆 I rest my case.

Sonam and Flop are best buddies. It'd be a miracle if one ditches another. 😆

I think actors make mistake when they touch remakes of recent decade films. Make movies on much older decades, then few notice or compare. Not many have watched old Devdas or Saraswatichandra so SLB and his band of actors get away with anything. But stuff like Khubsoorat is on TV every other day and is watched a lot because it is a clean family film. Copying a film like this is like inviting bashing already especially if they cast someone like Sonam Kapoor and not even a talented name.
Original's essence is bonding between friends and family captured so beautifully by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Those people looked like real family!

If the fancy candyfloss posters are anything to go by then I feel this one will lack the simplicity and natural feel of older one.

I have heard that even those who rated Rekha low as an actor had appreciated her in Khubsoorat. This was the impact she made.
I highly doubt if Sonam can win over everyone, including critics with her version.

The male has rather minimal role in this so Fawad has only few scenes where he can get opportunity to make an impact unless they tweaked the story. Rakesh Roshan was a typical "jee pitaji", "jee mummy", "jee bhaiya" kind of guy in it! Few scenes where he was on his own and not dominated even by younger siblings. There is not much meat for an actor in it. It was a women's film. In original, Ashok Kumar had better role and more scenes than Rakesh Roshan. The only male who made an impact besides the women.

Nah, she only wore a bikini because the 'script demanded it'. 😆

Looks like someone is not much clued in on Bollywood. Rekha is there in almost every top and best actresses list even today. She is forever there on mag covers, talk shows, getting honours every year and young and old gushing about her. Yash Chopra had said Rekha has infinite talent and should keep acting till her last breath. She has done all genres well be it drama, action, romance or comedy or arthouse films and won honours and acclaim. Yet again words like she was known for few movies and was not versatile! 😲
She is not praised just because she is an "oldie"! The films of hers which are called classics, are actually classic! Khubsoorat in particular!

Bashing yesteryear legends just for newbies and that too ones like Sonam of all people!

Every "oldie" is not hailed. Otherwise people would be calling Neetu Singh legendary too (who was just good, nothing outstanding).

Gayi Bhais paani mein... Why do people want to remake classics... And even if they want to, get someone with talent please... You know what I mean like...

thats why i am trying to say. i don't know much about this fawad, but so many topics on him, so seems like he is huge on small screen/in dramas. and if he is a major player in dramas, its pretty sad that he is being introduced on big screen in such a small role. maybe they altered the script of original, maybe the new khoobsurat is only inspired by the original..and maybe fawad will have a bigger role. but i hope they don't do the exact remake, cos i am positive sonam won't be able to pull original's act. and i don't want to see her in a ultra glamour role/fashionista.all that. it doesn't suit her.
