Kashibai was the first wife of Baji Rao I,^[1] who is acknowledged as the most influential of the nine Peshwas from the Bhat family. They had two sons together: Nanasaheb was later appointed Peshwa by Shahu in 1740. Their second son was named Raghunathrao. She has been described as highly devoted to her husband.^[1]

Priyanka Chopra will play Kashibai in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film slated to release in 2015.^[2]

I don't think we shud be comparing Jodha and Mastani, they r two different characters and stories.

Yes I think Deepika will be able to pull of the regal royal look beautifully. SLB is great with the visuals of his movies, so I think the whole cast will look great.

Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra to dance together in Sanjay Bansali's next film

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's logic is spot-on. Have two stunners? Will make 'em dance off!

Deepika Padukone may not trade punches with Priyanka Chopra, but the two will definitely have a dance-off in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next.

His Devdas had the ladies (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Paro and Madhuri Dixit as Chandramukhi) indulging in dramatic dialogues and a dance off, while the two never meet in the Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's literary classic. SLB's logic was simple. Audiences would feet cheated if the two didn't share screen space.

Ditto with Bajirao Mastani, where Kashibai and Mastani, Peshwa Bajirao's two lovers, will share screen space. SLB will give them a lot of confrontation sequences and a dramatic dance-off (like he did with Dola Re Dola in Devdas).

Says a source close to the project, "Though the film is named after Mastani (Deepika) the other woman in Bajirao's life, Kashibai has an equally important role in SLB's script." Interestingly, PC plays the less aggressive Kashibai. And while DP plays the title role, PC's role has been rewritten to suit her stature as an actor.

Adds the source, "Kashibai's role was never a walk-on. Not even eight years ago when SLB planned to make the film with Kareena (as Mastani) and Rani Mukerji (as Kashibai)."

DP and PC will have equally strong roles as well in Bajirao Mastani, it is learnt. Time for some fireworks, wot say?

kashibai and mastani will hav many confrontation scenes, and this dance number between them sounds so exciting! PC and deepika are very strong performers, so I can imagine fireworks onscreen when they hav scenes together, 😊

This is a true historical romance. SLB should not screw it up by his stupid imagination. He should stay true to the story. Mastani and Kashibai can't dance together. Kashibai was a prestigious lady of that time. The devoted wife to Bajirao. She sacrificed her husband to Mastani for political reason. She was devastated when she knows about her husband's affair with half-Persian courtesan Mastani because she was more beautiful than Kashibai.

How can they dance together?

How can they dance together?

Well also in Devdas SLB added elements that were not in the original, its a movie adaptation, Yes the story will stay true to the historical events, but to make the movie entertaining SLB has to add some elements like dance in it, the fact that we may see PC and deepika dance together is very exciting for many people. Also they won't be dancing happily together, the article says they will have a dramatic dance off, they will also hav many heated confrontations.
