Sanjay Leela Bhansali was spending sleepless nights as a crucial character in his upcoming Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone period drama, Bajirao Mastani, was yet to be cast. Now, he can breathe a sigh of relief as he has found an actor perfectly suited to play the part. And it is model-turned-actor Milind Soman.

Milind hasn't had a great run in Bollywood. His last notable appearance was in Bejoy Nambiar's David. SLB's love story could give his acting career a much-needed boost.

A source said: "Milind has had several meetings with Bhansali and both are excited about the project." Bhansali is still developing the character, but it is a 'positive role' and will have several action sequences.

Mirror had earlier reported (July 18) how the director had persuaded Daksha Seth to train the cast in Kalaripayattu--an ancient form of martial arts. "She will probably train Milind too as his character will have to do a lot of sword-fighting and hand-to-hand combat. It is something he has not attempted on-screen before," added the source.

Soman remained unavailable for comment.
