In my opinion too Madhuri is one of the best actress Bollywood has seen ever..I think the major issue is that often her acting prowess gets unnoticed because of the fact the she is a superlative dancer..People chose to believe that its becoz her dance that she became famous..But they overlook the fact that many trained dancers came and disappeared..If she would not have been a good actor..she would have been a victim of similar circumstances..
She is an effortless actress..Very clear diction..has a brilliant hold over the Hindi and Urdu language..which is hardly seenn now in the actresses of the current gen..
I dont give any importance to the forum dynamics or for that sake twitter or fb..and what people think about her as an actress there. These things dont matter...My mom does not use any of these and she is a big Madhuri fan..Madz is a legend..If Amitabh Bachchan in the male superstar of the century in India..then Madz is the female counterpart..

👍🏼 Very well written.

I agree totally. And her voice modulation is one of the best in the industry.

i loved her in anjaam, devdas and HAHK

but what is turn off is that they treat her like a goddess🥱
take JDJ for example: they so over-hype her

as far as queen of BW:its madubala for me

that is the biggest turn-off..when it was the first season it was fun but now its all repetitive and too much OTTness 🥱

OT : very well written and I completely agree...I still rmr her Anjaam, Tezaab , Raja etc...she was so good in all of them!

I too always liked Madhuri, but a couple of years back I just happened to watch her one movie, where her acting really grabbed my attention nd den I simply watched so many of her movies one after the other nd she mesmerized me with her performances nd most of her earlier nd even some of her later movies were simply pathetic, but she was always way above the movies.

Here's my POV of her some performances in not-so-notable movies.

Her comedy scenes in Raja and Khalnayak where she is mimicking other actors are brilliant.

In Zindagi ek Jua she plays a drug addict and the unfocused, desperate look that she portrayed was one of d best portrayal of an addict.

In Devdas she plays Chandramukhi and she could have been forgiven if she had played it OTT, but amazingly she was d only one who portrayed her character with a lot of restrain and grace, where everyone and everything in d movie was too OTT.

In Anjaam she portrayed the role of having no feelings left rather chillingly. Once she loses her child, her expression of emptiness portrayed through her eyes is scary.

In Prem Granth she beautifully portrayed the angst and pain of a rape victim and later the helplessness of a victimized mother.

Loved her portrayal of Janaki in Lajja...d gay abundant with which she portrayed her nd den in d end her cry of pain was such a contrast.

As I mentioned earlier, I think its unfortunate that Madhuri belongs to a decade when not much thought was given to roles of heroines. Not that much has changed now. But at least, nowadays, there are some scripts being written with the heroines in mind.

However, the success of a script also lies in its proper vision and execution.

Sadly, for heroines, when they mature and start getting better and better at what they do - it's time for them to say goodbye. Unfortunately so.

Madhuri is no exception to this rule. I remember watching Tezaab and thinking that there is so much power within her, which gets expressed sublimely when she gets a chance. She has an extremely expressive face. Same with Lajja - and I was happy that that movie had so many good actresses involved, except the screeching Mahima, who needed to tone down badly.

Her nuances stay with you even after the movie is over, not that all of them were great ones - which is again true for most actors throughout.

In Prem Granth, she was the only good thing and her acting was simply awesome, not going OTT any time. But the movie was not good.

There are so many such examples - I remember an interview of Mahesh Bhat highlighting the same point. He mentioned that he could vsiualise Madhuri as Adi Shakti because of the power she brings within her and portrays effectively.

And of course she dances like a dream - actually, her love for dancing shows on her face. She enjoys dancing.

I know this is a subjective and relative discussion, but she is more than her latkas and jhatkas.

@bold: This👏

Madhuri is seriously not a bad actress that this forum makes her out to be, i do agree she is over exposed these days, and all that JDJ stints all actors gushing about her gets annoying..
she has given some wonderful performances, tezaab, in anjaam & mrityudand she was brilliant, beta, dil, khalnayak, 100 days, prem ganth, HAHK, lajja and many more, to top it all she dances like a dream..

i have read many ppl say that karishma over shadowed her DTPH dance face off, but wasnt that dance done in a way that nisha is better than pooja at dancing and she wanted to make sure that stage belongs to her.. When the whole concept of that dance was about nisha over powering pooja as a good dancer then i say madhuri did excellently about loosing the game their.. 😆

Second thie view about the dance sequence.

But have you noticed how deadly she is when she starts the dance, with those guys in the background.

Remember Shiamak Davar saying that while Karishma dances like a girl, Madhuri moves like a woman. ⭐️

For me, Sri Devi stands way ahead of Madhuri, and she is unparallelled..
But Next comes Madhuri.. After watching SD and MD in 70's, 80's and 90's, I dont even feel like watching the mainstream post Y2K heroines ( Except Kajol ), they can't even act

@yeah i remember that. Even Saroj khan is so so fond of the way Madhuri dances, i see all the choreographers being in aww of her..
madhuri isnt robotic, she is not about just getting the steps its bout steps and expressions, the way she emotes while dancing.. She dances like a dream..

Anyone remembers that dhai shyam rok lai dance that she does in JDJ sitting on her judge seat , man even after so many years she gave that brilliant expressions on that line..

@Bold, Some ''BLIND HATERS'' in IF only cares about BASHING forgetting all the logic/sense 😆
When i hear someone say Lolo overshadowed Madz in DTPH or Aish overshadowed her in Devdas - I JUST LAUGH MY HEAD OFF! 😆 Like try google, read some expert reviews and then start babbling 😛
