As I hv said many a times, Madz is relatively an outsider even knw, she ain't married to some film-maker or superstar or into a BW family (nd by the way I am not implying anything abt other actors, d implications r purely incidental nd I wrote dis disclaimer after I realized d DP u hv 😳) tht others will feel compelled to shower their praise on her. It's totally on her own merit tht she gets d adulation she gets.

Also kindly don't demean a person who is simply going abt earning her living in a dignified way. It does not make her desperate for attention. How does working hard make one look cheap doing gimmicks and all? Also being visible is very much part of her profession and nothing wrong in doing so. She was teh only one Salman talked with respectfully nd with lot of affection when she came to BB to promote her films nd whn dey talked abt hardly meeting each other, Salman said dat dat was coz it was work and den home for Madz nd she didn't do parties. So how does dat make her desperate? Ya and finally in all these years ppl hv tht show to hodl against her. Don't knw much abt it, but dat can hardly be used against her.

As for mentioning others, sorry I can't stoop to such low levels by highlighting the negatives of others to show my fav in a better light, so wont even go der.

Thanks for the response khamosshhh ... I don't know you name though 😉

Anyway coming to the topic at hand, I have personally noticed that Madhuri has fans in all age groups. And they (outside IF) actually speak very highly of her, and that includes her acting skills as well.

Movies are such fickle creations that sometimes even the best one won't work, while sometimes even the stupidest movie clicks with the audience. This is true worldwide and isn't restricted to India only. Well, most of our Indian movies are not much to talk about as well, if the case be,

I really do not understand the issue that people have with her trying to engage herself in work, like any other professionals. Everybody should have the innate willingness to continue, if they want to. Every artist under the sun has ups and downs - that doesn't and shouldn't take away from their achievements.

You have written beautifully and d I agree on most counts.

However, I still think, she doesn't lack in terms of acting, especially vis-a-vis actresses in the present day. She brought life to the roles she portrayed, even if the film was not great. Sometimes,s he was the only saving grace in some of these films.

I guess Madhuri did live in an era where heroines were forced into the shadows of leading men. Eighties and nineties were all about the men. Moreover, there were not than many good movies either. It was in the late nineties that Bollywood started evolving out of the clich masala and romance genre. Back then there was a dearth of good scripts, especially for women. So it is quite commendable that Madhuri achieved a superlative status as an icon. She held her own in an extremely male dominated industry. My personal Madhuri favorites are Parinda, Tezaab and Devdas. Even though as a kid I was a much bigger Madhuri maniac, Sridevi deserves due credit too for being an icon of that generation.

I'm not that sure about Madhuri's acting prowess though. She was definitely good. But I don't think we will ever know how she would have done some of the better female characters created these days. Maybe she would have excelled and become the greatest actress. Maybe she would have bombed lacking the acting finesse to portray better characters. Who knows? She is past her peak now and we will never find out.

That being said Madhuri Dixit made the song and dance routine worth it. It wasn't just her fantastic dancing abilities and smooth graceful moves. It was her whole package - the expression on her face, the subtle nuanced movements, the ability to portray emotion through motion and most importantly the sheer joy of dancing. Something magical just happens and lights up when she dances. There is something about watching Mohini, that feeling I cannot place my finger on, that something that Munni or Sheila cannot evoke. When I watch Dola Re, I find myself fixated on Madhuri, she captivates me, she is dancing next to supposedly the most beautiful woman in the world - but screw that beautiful woman, my eyes are glued to Madhuri, when she dances - she is the most beautiful woman in the world.

So perhaps in terms of acting, Madhuri may lack behind present day women - but I think it will be a long long time before we find someone close to her in dancing. Ah but dat's exactly wht I am trying to say, dat in spite of not having the roles dat were author backed, it was by her sheer acting prowess that she breathed life into d most tepid nd badly etched character. Also her dancing is such a dominating part that her acting got overlooked. What u have said for her dancing the whole package part that u mentioned r the same attributes that r der in her acting. Pick up d worst movie of Madhuri, where d character is not developed and der is no scope for performing nd yet Madhuri makes d character note-worthy. Also she is a very restrained actor and hence she tends to portray a character in a subtle way, but with all d nuances. Case in point Dedh Ishqiya. She played a very layered character with a lot of finesse nd subtlety , but it's d flamboyant performances of other actors tht stand out and end up getting d credit.

Her acting prowess has always been overlooked coz of her dazzling beauty, smile and unmatched dancing abilities. But IMO that is not the only reasons why her acting has been overlooked. More than that, it has been overlooked coz she is such an effortless, natural and restrained actor, that her brilliance as an actor goes unnoticed.

Most actors give powerful performances in author backed roles where their characters have been very well etched or under the guidance of brilliant directors. But in Madhuri's case it is she who has made the most tepid of roles noticeable by her sheer performance.

She is one of the actors who have the best voice modulation. Just hearing her dialogue delivery one can make out the emotion she has conveyed.

Also she is equally at ease with emoting different feelings, whether comedy or tragedy. And in doing both these, I don't recall any actor other than her who does not go OTT. Also most actors have a particular style or mannerism which becomes their trademark, but Madhuri's acting is totally malleable to the character she is portraying and hence no distinct mannerism can be attributed to her.

Yeah..that's the best part about Madhuri. She made horrible films watchable just because she was in them.

I am angry with her for having stayed away from films for so long...I hope she continues to do more and more wonderful movies and gives us lots more memorable characters to cherish forever...😊

When someone walks down the path over and over again, seeking the same glory as once before, we have to wonder - is it all for attention or is it for passion? It could be both, but we can't focus on the attention aspect whilst ignoring passion.

Some people can let go of the past and seek greener pastures elsewhere. Other people need to keep going back time and again to the past, because that's what they did best and that's all they know to do, that's all they love to do.

Yes, Madhuri could probably go back to some American city and immerse herself in running dance academies and contests in the states. She doesn't need to keep judging shows, making movies or dancing at events. Maybe it does have a twinge of desperation. But it could also be that Madhuri simply loved dancing Bollywood numbers and needs to immerse herself in it wholly to be happy. Whatever reasons she does it for, I don't see why people dislike it so much about her.

Dignified? You think having guests purposely gush over her and ask her to dance every 2-seconds on those old-aged songs is dignified?

You think its dignified when she is praised to the sky as if she is some kind of goddess? You think its dignified for a woman who is almost 50 to dance in an item song as a PROSTITUTE? Do you think its dignified to use Tax Payers Moneys to DANCE at some concert? Sorry, That's not dignity my friend.

Again, Madhuri may be great and all but time ended with Devdas in 2003. After that shes a wannabe has-been, whether anyone likes it or not.

She does all these because the audience/ we general viewers WANT IT!! I know MANY, including me, who watches the crap JDJ for the sake of Madz only. After Madz started judging JDJ the TRP went sky high like never before!

The praises she gets are not fake but REAL! All the actors Kareena, Hrithik, Rani, Vidya and whoever came are themselves fans of Madz! She's inspiring! There's this ''Main Madhuri Dixit Banna Chahti Hoon'' in almost every girl! Every girl wants to dance like her, be like her EVEN now! Her inspiration was also made on a movie !!

Lastly, yeah Madhuri's time ended and no one disagrees with you! Also the times of Sridevi/ Aishwarya/ Rani/ Kajol/ all the past actresses ended too! They are no more in demand! It's now Katrina, Deepika, Sonakshi, Sunny Leone's time! And after some years, that'll end too and new lot will come!
But LEGENDS/Divas/Icons like Sridevi/ Madhuri/ Rekha/ Madhubala are not made everyday! Millions will come and go, such is the industry! Not a big deal! But legends like Sri/ Madz/ Rekha/ Madhubala will forever shine in the hearts of everyone! They're immortal, iconic and unforgettable!
