Agree, today's lyrics are in ur face filth... Yesteryear lyrics also had vulgarity and ur mind had to actually think through to understand the real meaning...
I tuned to a Indian radio channel and they were playing this kaddu katega song from R Rajkumar... When I heard the lyrics, I literally puked in my mouth.. Dirty...

Jo manbak sandook mein bandook chhupai ke
Neeyat mein mohabbat ki zara bhookh milai ke
Sunsaan se pichwade mein jo tang gali hai
Uss tang se galiyaare mein maashook bulai le
Mail tan ke badan se dhulegi
Aabroo ke silaayi khulegi
Sharm ka bhi lifafa phatega

It happened quite fast during the last 10 years and finally Hindi cinema reached where it was heading towards...the-gutter-level, and here I am specifically writing about the lyrics & thoughts.

I just watched kwk and Kajol mentioned her displeasure for that song "Toonh toonh toonh" didn't watched the movie (gori tere pyar mein) so finally I gave the song a shot at youtube just to know what Kadz meant and why, and omg, it was embarrassing enough to listen to that song.

Everyone who knows Punjabi know that what a bad, vulgar & inappropriate this word TOONH is (literally means ass/buttocks... it is called Tuwwa, Dhuwaa, Tuun etc in other punjabi dialectc...goshh I even feel embarrased witing it but what to do have to express this, so no wayout).

The song goes like this "teray mere Tooh, punjabiyan daey tooh, sharabiyan daey tooh, tere mere chotay chotay, white white round round Toonh).. that means yours and mine buttocks, buttocks of punjabi people, buttocks of drunked people, yours and mine buttocks are smal small buttocks, white white buttocks and round round buttocks... on top of that it was sung and picturized on a female, and they literally were showing everyone's buttcoks shots in that song... can u believe this height of vulgarity & cheapness 🤢

Insult to the injury is when in a popular award function they gave away youth-idol award to that idiot yo-yo-singha who shamelessly sung not just the vulgar but luiterally SICK & HIGHLY CRUEL song c***t vol:1 🤢
Also just happened to see the online poster of RAGINI MMS-2 where for 2 (sequel) they attached the tagline keeping in mind that po*nstar sunny "DO MAY ZYADA MAZA HAI".

I understand showbiz is a business and not teaching us the moral lessons, but there is a limit of everything, and having said that it is not their duty to totally destroy the values of us the new generation that is already on stake...as everything has an effect on human mind on some level subconsciously no matter how much we deny it .

What do you think, where are the limits (if there is any) of this industry going ? what can be the ultimate...and is there any hope to get back to our values... sigghh.

I originally started this thread a while back but people in india forums ridiculed it. Surprised to find woman also supporting such vulgarity.

At least here I saw people against it.

Yesteryear as in 50-70. Back then lyrics had depth. The vulgarity started in the late 70s/80s and progressively got worse...now it's all open and direct.

However I still find the 80s the most vulgar era. Rapes/attempted rapes in movies were common place, wearing skimpy outfits and close ups of breast, ass, torso were common. Lyrics were ok though.

I agree about Tooh song And many other recent songs. Most songs have very little depth. And way too much hinglish!

The 80's had worst songs, 90's had some really double meaning crass lyrics and 2000-till-present we have some vulgar songs but its not everything was gold a decade back.

I agree Tooh was disgusting. Gore gore, round round, naughty naughty, hilte dulte tooh W*F

Friends , we all r on the same page over this... even those who opposes me & others' views...come to think of it, the very first word of this thread says FINALLY hindi cinema reached the level where it WAS HEADING... so in no way I am defending 80s 90s or any era...I stated in my first post too that it was in the process, the filth was there, it got momentu in last 10 years more and now it reached the gutter level anmd is way too unbearable ...
in no way this is any competitin between any era that whether that was good or thos era was bad, or among any actresses/actors etc... the motives r clear and honest.
I guess excess of everything is bad especially vulgarity no values no ethics and the greed to get cheap attentio by makig dishing and feeding whatever crap to us they r making in the name of being socalled "open minded"... am sorry its not that what it should be called.

Finally Hindi Cinema reached the GUTTER-LEVEL

😲 What finally??i think there is/was always gutter in movies whether it was past or now..

Before "tooh" some vulgar songs were made too like..

Sheila ki jawani, munni badnam hogai, choli ke peeche...especially govinda songs are with double meanings..when kids sing these songs I feel embarassed

All the item songs and rain songs has more vulgar "moves"than this tooh moves..atleast non punjabis don't know the meaning of tooh...

thats such a cliche statement..."old bollywood was so clean and innocent and classy...new bollywood is crass and cheap and vulgar"...

exactly what classy lyrics or songs or choreography are we talking abt from the yesteryear films?

Rajesh khanna singing "Hui hui garmi hai kahaan hai" while making wierd orgasm noises to sridevi in maqsad?

Juhi telling Anil kapoor "Main maal gadi tu dhakka laga" while pelvic thrusting in Andaz?

Karishma telling govinda "Sarkayilo khatiya jaada lage" , while doing all kinds of dry humping moves?

Madhuri telling anil "Ouch...Dhak dhak karne laga" while thumping her chest?

Sridevi doing an "erotic song" in a wet saree right in the middle of a KIDS FILM like Mr india

how can all those be acceptable and "sensuous" and today's songs be crap? thats such double standards...

and why do people fail to acknowledge that the music today is of a very high standard?
Highway, Queen, BMB, Barfi, SOTY, lootera, Raanjhanaa , YJHD, Kai po che, Aashiqui 2, Dedh Ishqiya and many more examples of good songs and good lyrics...why ignore all that and label today's music as crap and vulgar and devoid of lyrical value?

vulgar songs exist now...vulgar songs also existed back then...
good songs existed back then...good songs exist now aswelll...

and there is no need for each film to be a "family film" to be good. Wolf of wall street was R+ rated but it was still nominated for academy awards and hugely acclaimed by the people.
So the "cleanliness" of a film dosent decide its worth for sure.

Its common sense...u dunt take ur families to Ragini MMS, or TDP, or Grand masti...but those films have their own audiences and thats fine...

therz no need to generalize or be judgemental.
