Shaadi Ke Side Effects recorded the third highest first day of 2014 but there is a big gap between the first two Jai Ho and Gunday and the rest of the field.
Shaadi Ke Side Effects managed to get better day one figures than films like Highway, Hasee Toh Phasee and Yaariyan but though it has same target audience as these films it is also more expensive. The only films to have come up to expectations on day one are Gunday and Yaariyan but both failed to sustain.
Jai Ho managed a good opening but the expectations were of a bigger opening. The top ten opening day collections for the first two months of 2014 are as follows.
